Shyla7

2/27/2015 – Adopted by her foster – This pup is Shyla, an 8 month old female lab. She is a cuddly, fun loving, happy little girl with a loving personality who is finally ready for a forever home. We say finally because Shyla had a lot to overcome before she could be adopted. On March 6th Shyla’s right front leg was amputated to resolve a painful injury that wouldn’t heal, and was robbing Shyla of a proper puppihood. She hardly missed a beat after the surgery and promptly resumed playing and entertaining her foster family.

Shyla came to Luvin’ Labs by way of a rural animal shelter where she was abandoned after her owners decided they didn’t want her. It is unknown how her leg was injured, but what we do know is that she received no veterinary care for several weeks. Instead, her previous owners duct taped a homemade splint onto her leg, causing the injury to heal incorrectly, and then decided they didn’t want her. Her fosters and Shyla’s wonderful vets have made a valiant attempt to try to recuperate her leg but, unfortunately, the damage was too severe. In order for Shyla to have the best quality of life, the decision was made to amputate her leg.

Shyla is now pain free and loving life. She is as tough as she is sweet and funny, and she is very excited to finally begin a normal life with a loving family to play with and cuddle up to. If you are looking for a great dog this girl most certainly checks all the boxes.

If you are interested in meeting Shyla click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days. 2/15/2015 Transferred to Service Dog Training – The size of an adult, but still the antics of a puppy…that’s Sierra!  She’s 11 months old and was adopted from a local shelter at the age of 8 weeks.  Her current owners describe has as very active, very loving, craves affection with a tail that wags constantly.  Sierra is a graduate of Puppy 1 and Puppy 2 classes, good on a leash, gets along well with other dogs and loves children.  Unfortunately her current owners find her to be needing more attention than they can give her.  An active environment would be the perfect fit for this girl.

If you are interested in meeting Sierra click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. HaideeTransferred to Freedom Service Dogs in Colorado 2/11/15  This chocolate beauty queen is Haidee (pronounced Heidi) and she is in search of a family to call her very own. Poor Haidee was left at a rural shelter, presumably after giving birth to a litter of pups sometime back left her with a very fixable uterine prolapse. While the prolapse is uncomfortable for poor Haidee, it isn’t dangerous and it poses no long term risks to her health. Nevertheless, she deserves a new start so the wonderful folks at Good Shepherd Animal Clinic will fix her up and she will be just as purdy and perfect as ever… and then Miss Haidee will be ready to be the one on the receiving end of all the love and attention. So far Haidee has not stopped smiling or wagging. She loves other dogs (both male and female), and she has been oh-so-polite, affectionate and grateful for all of the help and love that she has received from all of the wonderful volunteers and clinic staff.

If you are interested in meeting Haidee click here for information on the foster process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in being Haidee’s foster hero, call (505) 362-0331.

Buddy3

Adopted by his foster!  2/19/15  Been lookin’ for a special someone? Well, 8 year old yellow lab Buddy has been looking for someone special too! His foster family reports that he is a wonderful gentleman, sweet as heck and he is doing great in their multi-dog home. Buddy is a truly inspiring pup who has never lost his smile despite being left in a high-kill shelter and recently beginning painful heartworm treatments. We anticipate that this brave boy (and eternal optimist) will make a full recovery, and we certain that he will make a fantastic addition to any family.

Mandy4

Mandy is a beautiful girl both inside and out!!! She had a well deserved spa day.

Adopted 12/4/14  Imagine someone cruel enough to dump their senior at a high kill shelter because she just has “too many dogs.” When she was left at the shelter, her coat was badly neglected… but this little lady had a well deserved spa day and, gauging by her tail in the picture above, she feels as great as she looks! Mandy is a sweetie pie and a total love (who adores being petted). She is in search of a foster or forever home where a loving someone will give her a comfy dog bed and some nice walks to help her regain her girlish figure. Please help us to find this lovely, deserving girl a home where she can feel what real love is.

If you are interested in meeting Mandy click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering call (505) 362-0331.

This is how Mandy’s former owner left her at the shelter… Underneath that neglected coat she is perfect beauty!

Cody5

Taken into another rescue! 2/22/15  This special girl is Cody and she is 1 year old. Cody is not a lab, but rather a shepherd mix. Why then, you ask, is she on a Labrador Retriever website? Because one of our fosters found this sweetie pie on a cold night, running around wet and dirty with a terrier friend… and despite all of her efforts to locate her humans, it appears nobody is looking for Cody (her little buddy is safe and sound in a brand new forever home). Cody’s foster mom knew that the shelter was no place for a tripod, so she asked if we could spread the word that a great dog is looking for a great home. Here is what we know about Cody: She is a 29 lb tripod who is sweet and smart. She knows basic commands, has been fully vetted and vaccinated and does well with men, women, children and other dogs.

If you are interested in meeting Cody click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering this adorable boy call (505) 362-0331. Pandora1Transferred to K-9 program in Colorado  2/15/15  Almost one year old Pandora is a resilient, happy girl. You would never guess that this girl spent a terrifying night tied to the front gate of the shelter with an old piece of manila rope around her neck. But, we all know how labs are… and how puppies are! Pandora has moved on from that traumatic night and she is now winning hearts with her adorable, silly sweetness. She would love nothing more than to wiggle her way into your heart, (and sit on your lap).

Foster update! 10/12/2014 Pandora is eager to please and would do awesome with any training. She is learning the leash but still pulls and she is 100% dog door trained and crate trained! Pandora requests a home where she is the only female as she doesn’t like to share the spotlight with the other girls. She is good with male dogs. She is very loving and energetic and will appreciate a home where she gets plenty of exercise and human interaction.

If you are interested in meeting Pandora click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Adopted!  We are Thor (white) and Dharma (red), a pair of sweethearts looking for a new home.  We are very playful and love toys as well as other dogs.  Our owner recently lost his battle with cancer and his final wish for them was that they find a new loving home. We take a bit of time to warm up to new people, but we are great cuddlers once we do.  We are a matched set and must be adopted together!  We are looking forward to falling in love with you.  If you are interested in meeting us please call Santa Fe Tails at (505) 820-0731.

Roemo6

Adopted 2/21/15  Romeo, oh my dear Romeo.  It is time for this baby to find a home.

This handsome heart throb is Romeo and he is 18 months old. Romeo is a fantastic dog, sweet, loving and very affectionate. He knows the commands shake, sit and down; he is so smart.  He is a little shy when he meets new men, but with treats and committment he will do fine.  Loves to play, loves his kibbles for treats.  Cutest dog ever, but you have to see him in person, his pics don’t do him any justice at all.  He’s pretty mellow and prefers other calm dogs.  He loves to fetch his soft toys and sometimes even entertains himself by tossing them in the air.  Sweet Romeo is house trained, doesn’t dig, or jump fences and he is not food or toy aggressive. Romeo is neutered, micro chipped and UTD on vaccines. Sounds like a pretty great all around Labrador Retriever to us!  He will make some family or couple a super dog.

If you are interested in meeting Romeo click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Kayla2Transferred to Freedom Service Dogs in Colorado 2/11/15  Kayla is a 1 year old Labrador Retreiver who is the definition of adorable. She is a happy, smiley little girl who will make a wonderful forever friend to some very lucky human. Kayla is good with other dogs and has been an excellent and very polite house-guest in her temporary foster home. Wanna know what would make little Kayla the happiest dog in the world? A forever home of her very own where she can be a treasured family member and rest easy knowing that her new humans will never leave her at a shelter the way her previous owners did. Sweet Kayla and her friend Caroline were surrendered to a rural shelter because their owner said “I just have too many dogs.” We are bewildered and once again, left shaking our heads…

January 2015: forever home. My family thought they had it all worked out…while they were in Japan I would be taken care of by family members here in the states.  Unfortunately they decided that might be too much work so now my family is desperate to find me a new forever home where I will be loved as much as they love me.  And I’m an easy pup to love.  I’m a petite girl, 2 years old, described by my current family as a sweet amazing dog.  I play well with other dogs and get along great with kids of all ages (even the littlest ones).  I am gentle with everybody even when playing.  I have a favorite rope toy and I could play with it all day.  I may be just a little hyper when I first meet you, but once I’m told to lay or calm down I do it.  I’m great on a leash, great in the house, and not a fence jumper or digger when I’m outside.

Byron4

Transferred to K-9 program in Colorado 2/15/15 This worried face belongs to Bryon and he is estimated to be between 1-2 years old. Bryon is a sweet, loving black lab who clearly needs something to smile about… like a new forever home, perhaps? 2015 started off a little rough for Bryon- he found himself in a high kill shelter and was scheduled to be put to sleep… but then Bryon got his miracle: he was whisked away to Albuquerque to begin the rest of his life as a Luvin’ Labs dog! Bryon’s transporter tells us that once, this kid knew he was safe, he was all smiles and kisses and seemed to be just and all around friendly labby boy.

If you are interested in meeting Bryon click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Claire5

Adopted 3/4/2015 –   Found standing by the side of a busy Texas highway with cars rushing by at 70 mph, this beautiful chocolate lab with no collar or tags was so frightened she just couldn’t move.  Thanks to a kind family traveling back home to Albuquerque, she was rescued from a certain fate, and after all attempts to find her home failed, she now calls Luvin’ Labs her family.  We named her Claire and she’s already stolen the heart of one of our volunteers who met her today; she had this to say:

“Claire is a sweetheart.  She walks unbelievably on a leash, right beside you and if she gets a little ahead she slows down to be with you.  We passed a yard with a dog barking at her and she just ignored it.  She is a beautiful milk chocolate color, very warm looking.  She is very affectionate, turns to you for pats and sits for treats.  A very nice dog.”

Stanley1Transferred to Freedom Service Dogs in colorado  2/11/15  Meet 3 year old black male, Stanley. Stanley was one of 7 of Mama Ginny’s puppies adopted out through Luvin’ Labs in 2012. Recently Stanley and his extended family suffered a terrible loss when his owner passed away. Stanley has been living with an older family member since then, but she is very frail and not able to safely manage a young, enthusiastic 70lb dog. Stanley’s family wants to do what is best for everyone and in this situation, that means finding a new home for this handsome boy.

Here is what Stanley’s family had to say: “Stanley is a lovely dog.  He is full of life and likes to play. He is snuggly, particularly for a big dog.  He gets on well with other dogs but is best with dogs near his own size.  He needs a home with a big yard and another dog or where they can take him on a long walk or run daily.  He is smart and I think he could be a good family dog (for a family without small children or elderly adults)…” Stanley is house trained, knows how to use a dog door and is used to spending the majority of his time indoors. He is not a digger, a fence jumper, nor is he aggressive in any way. Stanley does need some work on proper greetings as he tends to be very happy to see everybody and he could also use some work on his leash manners. Stanley kindly requests a cat-free home.

If you are interested in meeting Stanley click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Beautiful Hayden is just over over a year old.

Valentine2

Adopted by her foster!!! 2/22/15  Dumped in a high-kill shelter with her 5 puppies, the future looked bleak for Valentine.  Things seemed even more dismal when all the puppies were adopted and Valentine had only hours to live.  But what a turn-around for our beautiful Valentine…now a Luvin’ Lab living in a perfect foster home with her 2 “new” brothers, a chocolate lab and a black lab, who were eager to welcome her into their home.  What could be better for this 1-2 year old beauty…her very own forever home!

2/14/2015 Update from her foster mom:  “Valentine is pretty good on the leash so far, she does pull at times but it’s because she gets excited about things. As far as activity level she seems happy to lay in the dog bed and chew a bone or to sleep in the one next to the bed when I’m sleeping.  I think she really Ioves being able to go outside through the dog door whenever she wants, I see her out in the yard just smelling everything quite often.  No signs of being a jumper at all. She’s great in the car and loves the rides we have taken her on!”

Gizmo1

Adopted 2-10-2015 – Look who just became a member of the Luvin’ Labs family…meet Gizmo, an adorable 4 month old black female lab who is super anxious to find her very own forever home.  Before we can bring her to Albuquerque we need to find a foster home for her.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Gizmo click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Beautiful, smart, friendly and obedient…it’s time for these 2 pups to find a new loving home.

The Rescuers found a forever home for these two!  2/8/15  Hard to believe but these 2 beautiful yellow labs were found 10 days ago by a couple in Alto, NM running loose with no collars and not microchipped.  The couple have posted flyers in the area with no luck in finding the owners.  Gus a male is about 5 years old weighing about 60 pounds and Dizzie a female is approximately 3 years old and 50 pounds.  Both dogs are in good health, are house trained, know basic commands, do well on a leash, and get along well with other dogs and cats.  They are not diggers, fence jumpers and do not jump up to greet.  As they are bonded their current caretakers would love to see them go together.

If you are interested in meeting either or both of these labs click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. In real life my adorable face isn’t usually covered in slobber.

Adopted 2/18/15  Gibbs is a 3 year old purebred chocolate lab. This guy is a sweet, wiggly pup that will make some lucky person or family a fun, active companion. He would do well in a home with other dogs, cats, kids… he’s just an all around, affable kind of dog! Gibbs previous home life wasn’t so great, so his wish this time around is that he be adopted into a loving, happy home where he can spend the rest of his days basking in hugs and kisses.

Caroline
Adopted 2/20/15
Caroline is a 1 year old female Golden/Lab cross and she is  in need of a forever home! She is a delightful, sweet, happy girl who is great with people and other dogs. She has been an excellent house guest in her temporary foster home so far and she has her paws crossed that she won’t have to wait long to meet her forever family.

“I just have too many dogs.” That’s what their owner said when she left Caroline at a high-kill rural shelter. It’s bad enough that she ended up there at all, but when a dog is surrendered by their owner, if nobody steps in to adopt or rescue them, they are the first to be euthanized when the shelter is full. Caroline deserves soooo much better and we have no doubt that she will make an awesome addition to any home♥

If you are interested in meeting Caroline click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days. Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Bogie7

Adopted 2/6/15!  Bogie, such a handsome dog with soft fur and unique wonderful coloring.  Bogie is a volunteer favorite due to his charming personality, positive demeanor and striking good looks.  He is huggable, goofy and very much a heart stealer.  He may not be the right fit for a family with small children, but he’d fit in well with people who will give him attention. exercise and a warm place to sleep.  You also can’t mind competing with his movie-star good looks!  We believe Bogie to be a lab/Catahoula mix.  He is very playful, and attaches to his person (this is a Catahoula trait).   He eats slowly (not like your normal lab), he does take treats, but isn’t crazy for them.  He is a wonderful dog, okay with cats and older children.

If you are interested in meeting Bogie click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in being Bogie’s foster hero, call (505) 362-0331.

Jack Frost

Pending Adoption 2/12/2015 – My name’s Jack Frost (Adopted) and that other kid is my brother Rudolph. You can just call me Jack though. Our friend Jericho- his mom is one of the ladies who runs the rescue- tells us that in addition to being extremely cute and cuddly, we are extra special just like him! You see, we were both born with heart conditions- Jericho says our hearts beat to their very own special rhythm. Our hearts mean that Luvin’ Labs is looking for extraordinary humans that are willing to love us unconditionally. We are so young that the vet isn’t sure if our heart rhythms will cause us any problems long term or not, so for now we are just doing what puppies do best- exploring and napping! Jericho says he is just like any other dog but that his mom loves and spoils him extra because she sees every day with him as a very special blessing. Our paws are crossed that we’ll be adopted by a human just like Jericho’s mom!

While Jack and Rudolph are adorable, we are committed to finding them the best home possible.  They MUST stay in the Albuquerque area through diagnostics, the first six months of their lives.  They MAY require extensive, exhaustive, continual medical care which will be the sole responsibility of their adopter.  Luvin Labs is COMMITTED to seeing that these needs will be met in any potential adoptive home.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

Brodey2/6/2015 Adopted by Foster!  How ’bout this good looking guy!? Brodey is a 3-5 year old male Labrador Retriever, an all-around great guy,  and a most incredible athlete. Mr. Brodey quickly won the heart of his human rescue advocate, who works with dogs for a living. She tells us that Brodey is by far the best dog she has worked with at her current job… That’s quite an endorsement!!! Brodey is good with other dogs- not really very interested in them. He is very affectionate and tactile with humans and loves a good pat and lots of scratches. Interested in meeting this guy? Well, you better hurry if you want to be Brodey’s forever home- he’s quite the special dog.

Walter3

Adopted 2/17/15  This cheerful guy is looking for a place to unpack his bag in his own forever home. He is 7 years old and his name is Walter, and aside from having a winning smile, Walter is said to be a kind soul with a good heart.  Walter is a class A ham and has never met a person he didn’t like. He sits and shakes and he only knows how to be happy. He is a wiggler whose tail never stops wagging.  Walter was rescued from a high-kill shelter and his freedom ride chauffeur took him directly to the vet for a check up.  Unfortunately this sweet boy was heartworm positive. Walter recently started his heartworm treatment and will soon be declared free of heartworms and perfectly healthy.

1/23/2015 Update from Walter’s foster mom:

Walter is an incredibly handsome, classy, sleek black Lab who carries himself with dignity and grace.   Not only is he beautiful on the outside, but also has a beautiful personality.  Sweet and kind.   He is good with the other dogs in our home, both male and female.   He is pretty mellow and calm, knows how to sit on command and tries hard to do what you ask.   He is crate trained.
Walter is still resting up from his recent heartworm treatments, but is doing well and happy to be able to get out for a little more exercise.  He likes a little play time.  If you are looking for a great dog, please consider Walter……  he is at that perfect age to be a wonderful companion.

Me: I am a good-natured, spontaneous, fun loving girl and I am always ready for a good time. My hobbies include eating, snuggling, playing games outside with my favorite people, and sunset walks. I wake up every day with a smile on my face and a hop in my step and I love, love, LOVE to be loved on and I’m just as sweet as my name implies!

You: I only care that you are committed to loving me unconditionally and forever. I don’t care what you look like, how much money you have (as long as you pay my vet bills), where you work, or whether or not other people think you are cool. I will love you back no matter what and I will be eternally grateful to you for being my person.

If you are interested in meeting Dulce click here for information on the foster process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Adopted 1/31/2015 –  My name is Franknberry and I’m a 5 year old male lab/golden retriever mix. I’m an extremely friendly, cuddly guy and they say I would be an excellent family dog. I am also good with other dogs and I have the most wonderful leash manners- I generally like to just walk calmly beside my humans. Because I am so good on a leash, they assumed I must know all sorts of things… but it turns out I only know how to be sweet and good (which they say are the 2 most important things). I’m very excited to learn some tricks though, and since I’m super smart I know you’ll be able to teach me! The lady who took pictures of me for this post said that I was possibly the easiest dog she has ever photographed because I just sat patiently like a good boy and let her snap away. My paws are crossed that I can go home with someone who takes me for lots of walks and takes zillions of pictures of my adorable face to show off to everyone they know.

Franknberry lives with his awesome foster dog and he has this to say about Franknberry:

Is house trained, no accidents.

No attempts to mark.

Doesn’t chew things.

Learned sit, come, go in your crate.

Very affectionate.

Wants to always be with me.

Content to just sleep when I’m working on the computer.

Absolutely gorgeous!

If you are interested in meeting Franknberry click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Franknberry call (505) 362-0331.

Jeremy4

Adopted 1/19/15  This handsome young pup is Jeremy.  At just one year old he’s seen the world, or a little bit of it for sure.  Jeremy came into a local shelter as a stray and surprisingly no one came to claim him.  Surprising not only because he’s awesomely cute, but he has a personality to match.  At the shelter he was behavior tested and scored the highest marks.  Jeremy is safe in his new foster home complete with other dogs and cats, but would love to have his very own forever home.  If you are interested in meeting Jeremy (or as his foster mom calls him Jere) click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 7 days.  Should you have additional questions, call (505) 362-0331.

Leia2

Adopted 1/22/15  Did your know us labs have a special power?  We wag our tails with our hearts!! I am the perfect one to show you how we do it. … my name is Leia (I am a bit of a princess?), I am a beautiful yellow lab and I am the definition of happy!   My entire body wiggles especially when I have a toy in my mouth! !  I have gone through being an excellent mom twice,  but luckily those days are behind me and I am enjoying just getting to be a happy dog for the rest of my life. I am about 4 years old but you can bet I am as playful as they come  .  I love to fetch a ball (although giving it back to you is part of the game for me), tug of war is another favorite of mine. I do know basic commands like sit and come,  but would benefit from some obedience training to sharpen my skills and tone down my excitement of visitors.

If you are looking for someone to cuddle with I’m your girl. I get along great with other dogs,  do well with cats and have been living in a foster home with dogs,  cats,  rabbits and chickens. If you are as excited to meet me as I am to meet you fill out an adoption application right away.

If you are interested in meeting Leia click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Vixen1

Adopted 1/16/15  Meet our newest girl Vixen, named after Santa’s special reindeer who was known for her beauty and gracefulness.  We found her in a nearby high-kill shelter and knew she deserved a second chance.  Vixen is close to a year old, gets along with other dogs, loves to play and will make someone a great family dog.  Her transporters said she rode well in the car, spending the entire trip gazing lovingly at them as if she knew exactly what they had done for her.

If you are interested in meeting Vixen click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Vixen On Her Freedom Ride

TrippAdopted!  12/23/14  This handsome 7 year old guy is Tripp. Tripp’s owner recently joined the military and his first assignment was 2+ years to a place where his beloved Tripp could not go. We’ve been tasked with finding Tripp a home just as wonderful as he is. Tripp’s owner wants better for his friend than military life with a dad that travels for months and years at a time. Tripp’s owner tells us that he found Tripp as a pup wandering along the railroad tracks and he named him Tripp, which is Scandanavian for wanderer.

Tripp’s grandmother, who travels for work extensively, had this to say about him: “Trip is a gentle, gentle soul.  He loves to eat and will dance and dance when it is dinner time.  He is not hyper at all and would just as soon lay by someones feet all day.  He gets along with ALL dogs and all people.  He is a bit shy but not a lot.  He is the dog that stands in the background if there are a lot of people. He is so sweet.  He loves walks and did jog with my son when he was getting ready for boot camp.  When my son came home on leave, Trip was so happy, like, ‘here is my best friend home finally!’  This breaks our hearts.”

Add to that, Tripp is neutered, housebroken, can use a dog door, knows basic commands, he is not food or toy aggressive, he doesn’t jump to greet, and he is trusted to be alone in the house for hours at a time without issue… WOW! Better hurry if you want to put in an application for this wonderful dog!

If you are interested in meeting Tripp click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Adopted 1/3/2015 –  Coal, a handsome 4 year old black big headed lab.  Very sweet, doesn’t really want another dog, but will put up with them as long as they don’t bug him too much.  Loves to play, knows sit, down and is learning the commando crawl.  He will do anything for some love. Loves his toys and for some reason he returns them all to the same pile… A very neat dog, both being very cool and in his habits. He walks well on leash. This could be the love of your life.

PeachesKept by Owner 12/31/14  Peaches will most certainly be a fantastic find for some lucky person. This female lab mix is 2 1/2 years old and she is described as being a perfectly wonderful dog. She is as sweet as they come, and is described as being a super smart girl. She is crate trained and totally housebroken and Peaches has wonderful manners. She is spayed and microchipped and will be UTD on vaccines before she moves into her new home. Peaches human is no longer able to safely care for a such a big dog. Her current owner’s heart is truly broken to have to part ways with her dear friend, but we promised her we would help Peaches find a new home with wonderful poeple who will treat her like the princess that she is.

annabel1_2.4.2014

Adopted by her foster!!  11/22/14  I am the grandmother your other dog has always wished for. My name is Annabel and I am 12 years young. To be fair, I am very fond of less mature pups (I get along well with other dogs) but I’m darn sure not going to sit back and watch while they hog the spotlight (I plan to be around for awhile and I am a spunky girl). I am good with children and cats and I love to be affectionate with people. I am spayed, house trained and I can use a dog door. I don’t jump or dig either. I really enjoy walks and my foster mom says that with some careful conditioning I will be the one whipping you into shape. It’s clear she has already fallen for my charm and spirit and she says that the family who ends up with me will be lucky because I am an awesome dog. Basically, I’m perfect… So what are you waiting for?

If you are interested in meeting Annabel click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Sam

Dean

Adopted! 12/6/14  Wow! This boy will surely turn some heads. His name is Sam and he is an 8 month old lab mix. Sam was surrendered to a rural shelter along with his buddy Dean when his owner had to move out of state and couldn’t take the dogs. Fortunately the owner was able to provide some helpful information about Sam that might help him find a wonderful new home where he can live happily ever after. We were told that Sam is housebroken and has been around children and that he is a good family dog. Sam is also good with other dogs- very active and playful, and he even knows some basic commands (‘sit’ and ‘come here’). His former owner says he is very timid around new people and situations but once he warms up he is very friendly. Even though the Sam was surrendered with his friend, these two young dogs will adjust quickly to life apart so they can be adopted separately (that is unless you just happen to be looking for two handsome, fun-loving boys!)

Think Sam might just be the perfect dog for you? Well don’t delay because this sweet boy can hardly wait to find his forever home! If you are interested in meeting Sam click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

MoJo
ADOPTED 12/8/2014 – MoJo is a 4 year old neutered male lab in search of a new home. He is completely housebroken, spends 8 hours alone inside the home each day… and we are told he is not destructive, doesn’t dig through the trash or surf the counter tops, doesn’t dig, doesn’t jump fences, isn’t food or toy aggressive and he is wonderful on a leash. Um… he sounds PERFECT!!! Oh, and he doesn’t bark in the house and when he is let outdoors to do his business, he will bark to let his owner know he is finished and ready to come back in. His owner also tells us that MoJo doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and even though he hasn’t been around cats, he believes they could live in harmony with a proper introduction and a watchful eye until everyone is sure. His owner has taken a job that will require extensive travel, and rather than kennel MoJo for long periods of time while he is gone, he has decided his friend would be much happier with a new home and a loving family. Even though MoJo is an only dog, his owner tells us he hopes MoJo can find a home with either a companion dog, or someone who is home frequently because he is very social and really enjoys being around others. MoJo is in excellent health.

If you are interested in meeting MoJo click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Sam5

Adopted! 12/9/14  Wow! This handsome boy with the hypnotic eyes is Dean. Word is that 1 year old labby boy Dean is housebroken, likes other dogs, loves to play, knows how to sit, stay and come (responds to both verbal commands and hand gestures), and would make a good family dog. Oh, and he is learning to fetch! So, basically what his former owner was saying when he left this sweet boy at the shelter, is that Dean is an amazing young dog. His owner moved out of state and left Dean and his buddy Sam at the shelter. The boys are young and very resilient so they can be adopted separately. We think Dean (and his friend Sam) sound like fantastic pups so if you are interested, don’t delay.

If you are interested in meeting Dean click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. Bubba

Adopted! 12/19/14  Update:  Bubba desperately needs to gain about 20 lbs. and he will not be able to do so if he continues to live at boarding!  He needs a home where he can be fed and loved on!  He loves to put his head in your lap and just be loved on.  Soft voices and stability will go a long way in helping Bubba relax and gain some weight! We would love to see him at around 70lb. instead of his current 50lb weight!  Please, can you help?

My name is Bubba and I am a 1-year old male yellow Labrador Retriever. I was pulled from a high-kill shelter the very day I was supposed to be euthanized. I’m a very sweet, loving boy and by the looks of me, I suppose you can tell I’ve had a rough run of it here recently. I’m exhausted, stressed and I need a never ending food bowl. I’m ready for a warm, safe home with humans to love me- even if it’s only temporary while I wait for a forever home. Please take a second to see how happy my adopted friends have made all of these people . I hope that I can make someone just as happy.

The Luvin’ Labs folks said NM shelters are bursting at the seams with Labs right now and they are pleading for fosters. Please don’t let the lump in your throat or the tears in your eyes stop you from helping. If you can’t foster you can help just by sharing our bios with your friends and family.

If you are interested in meeting Bubba click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Leilani2 Adopted! 12/5/14  Meet 1 year old yellow female, Leilani. Leilani is a petite girl (maybe 40lbs) who greets every day with a big happy smile and is described by volunteers as being “a very special girl.” She loves to be petted and hugged by humans and enjoys being around other dogs. She is also quite the intelligent athlete and would be a fantastic agility dog.

In Hawaiian, Leilani means “beautiful flower,” and we can’t think of a more perfect description of this girl. That said, we do see a bath in her not too distant future, because at the moment, Leilani is a very dirty, beautiful flower. She has proven to be a great friend to all of the other dogs at the boarding facility and enjoys playing with her pals in the play pool and then horsing around with them in the dirt. She is quite the lovable character ♥♥

If you are interested in meeting Leilani click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Leilani call (505) 362-0331.

Allie

12/22/2014 – Adopted! – Looking for that perfect lab that wants nothing more than to be your best friend?  Look no further…This is Allie, a 7 year old wonderful girl, very sweet, extremely mellow and so friendly.  She loves being inside and just spending time with the family.  She enjoys the adventure of going, is very curious and rides well in a car.  While she likes spending time with her foster lab brothers, she is probably more of a people dog.  She’s crate trained, not a jumper, and shows no signs of separation anxiety.  Allie is 100% perfect in the house as long as you don’t leave a sweet treat on the edge of the kitchen counter, just to tempting to resist  (she is a lab after all).  Allie would make the perfect companion for someone who is looking for a lab that is loving and has a low energy level.

If you are interested in meeting Allie click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

JB will be looking for a forever home with another dog she can bond with. Think she might be the girl for you? Well, don’t wait to fill out an application, cause this beauty queen is sure to have lots of folks interested in meeting her.

Hudson7Adopted! 12/5/14  We are sooooo happy to announce that our beloved Hudson is finally ready to find his forever home! As you may or may not know, back in September,  Chocolate labby boy Hudson, who is now about 10 months old, was hit by a car and had to have surgery on his hip. Throughout his ordeal, Hudson proved himself to be a most remarkable dog: He was a sweet, gentle little trooper who was eternally grateful to all of the wonderful friends he made at the Good Shepherd Animal Clinic. Even on his worst days, Hudson never lost his sparkle or his charm for even a second.

In case you haven’t yet gathered, we are wild about Hudson and we want him to have a forever home that is just as special as he is. If you are searching for a Labrador who wants nothing more than to be your very best friend, come meet this special guy. He is fantastic with everyone, dogs and humans alike. Oh, and so much of Hudson’s success must be credited to his wonderful foster, to whom we (and Hudson) are so thankful♥

Tasker3
Adopted  12/10/14
Meet 1 year old male Tasker and he is a big ol’ sweet love. Volunteers are already singing Tasker’s praises and say he is a WONDERFUL dog- friendly with other dogs (seems to do well with dogs both large and small), playful and happy. He loves human interaction and they say he is a rockstar at fetch- this guy will go after two balls and carry them both back! Taskers previous owner had children between the ages of 2-9 and said he did well with all of them so would make a good family dog. He was an outside dog in his previous life, but he loved nothing more than when he was allowed in the house to sleep and was always quiet and well behaved. He requests a home where he can be a valued member of the family and come inside and spend lots of quality time with his people. We would love to get Tasker into a foster home as soon as possible… so if you have a little extra room, Tasker would be extremely grateful if he could crash at your place for awhile while we look for a permanent home for him.

If you are interested in meeting Tasker click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Taker call (505) 362-0331.

Raphael

Adopted! 11/25/14Rachael had only one day to find rescue from a very high kill shelter; fortunately Luvin’ Labs found out about her plight and she is now safe and on her way to Albuquerque.  Sometimes the need to save someone like Rachael doesn’t give us time to make a plan for a place to go…we need someone to step up for her and offer foster.  She’s 8 years old and quite the gorgeous gal.

Update 10/14 from her temporary foster:  “She is very mellow. She likes to play catch with stuffed toys. She likes her walks, but gets a bit tired on a long walk. She is not an early riser.  When I left her at home alone for a couple of hours, she was fine. I checked in on her after the first hour and all was well. She is quiet. She only barked when my husband came home. She took her pill very easily in a piece of cheese. She did not jump up on furniture, but did jump into the front seat of the car. Well behaved overall and very sweet.”

Did you know if you volunteer to foster a L.L. dog and decide you cannot say goodbye you can adopt your pup and be his forever home?  We ♥ fosters.

If you are interested in meeting Rachael click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering call (505) 362-0331.

LaineyAdopted!  11/28/14  Meet our beautiful Lainey, a 2 year old labby girl. Lainey is made a bit more special because she’s a piece of our beautiful new mexico sky in her eyes … Lainey comes to us from a very rural new mexico shelter where she took care of sweet Megan, who is possibly her daughter. Being in the midst of a shelter sure didn’t affect this sweet girl’s disposition … she’s still as sweet as they come. If you are looking for a loving companion who get’s along with other dogs how about considering being a forever home for miss Lainey? We know she’ll return your love two fold.

Update from Lainey’s foster:  Lainey is a very easy girl to have around and she LOVES to be near her people. She’s a dream to walk and stays right beside you, never pulling. She’s good with other dogs, plays really well and she’s a wonderful friend to her foster-pug siblings. Lainey is also crate trained and house trained. In fact, she is so well behaved in the house that her foster doesn’t worry about crating her at night- she sleeps quietly on a blanket on the floor.

If you are interested in meeting Lainey click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Leyla_P1030071_480H

Relocated to Colorado.(DDI) 10/14/14 Here is a very special 2 year old yellow female Labrador Retriever. Leyla would be a wonderful addition to an outdoorsy, active family. She is a goofball with a great, happy disposition and she likes every human she meets, including children. Leyla loves other dogs but she has never met a cat. She will likely need some work on her house manners as she was strictly an outdoor dog in her former life. Leyla is looking for a home where she can get in on the action and see what in the heck it is that poeple have been doing while she’s been sitting outside. She has also requested toys (because she loves toys).  And maybe a playpond! Oh, and yummy dog treats! (Don’t forget the dog treats)…

Percy, a handsome 8 year old black lab used to have a home; when he got separated from his family he just knew that they would come get him.  As he was microchipped, the shelter gave them a call, but they never responded.   Now Percy sits in an over-crowded shelter just waiting.  He loves to play and gets along great with other dogs.  We can’t just let this good dog become a statistic.  If you can offer Percy that home he longs for please visit the Aztec Animal Shelter, 825 Sabena St., Aztec, NM or call (505) 334-6819.

Marley and Sara

Adopted!  11/10/14  How’s this for a deal? Two Labs in one cuddly, playful, Luvin’ package! Marley (male, age 3) and Sara (female, age 2) are truly stunning dogs and both appear to be purebred Labrador Retrievers. Marley and Sara are a bonded pair-  they came to us as BFF’s and we promised them that we would find them a forever home together. Both dogs are very friendly with everyone they meet, know basic commands and are good with other dogs. Looking for some couch cuddlers? Maybe a couple of friends to keep you motivated to put on your shoes and go for that walk when the temperature drops? Well, you’re in luck! Lounging on the couch and going for walks are just two of Marley and Sara’s many favorite activities.

We know a dog is a big commitment. However, most dogs are happiest with a canine friend. So give these two a second look, and maybe arrange to meet them.

Transported to K-9 Prison Program 10/20/14  This is Wyatt.  As you can see, moving from a scary old shelter toward freedom makes any dog’s day!  I have been at the Luvin’ Labs boarding facility for a few weeks now, and LOVE getting out into the play yard.  I even like to share my time with some of the other dogs, ’cause I’m a playful sort of guy.  The ladies really dig my ears, they think they make me VERY special.  I’m a smart boy with a bunch of energy, but I save some of my time for back scratches and just being pet and adored.  I’m very curious, but don’t bark and I’m not destructive.  I’m looking for my best friend – is it you?  Wyatt was saved in loving memory of Ranger.

9/30/2014 Volunteer Update:  “Love those little ears and Wyatt’s loving personality.  He likes and gets along with all other dogs and would be best with another dog or two.  Not a bad bone in his body.  He is a food hound (what lab isn’t), loves water and running around playing with you or other dogs.  He is smaller in stature, the perfect size.  He likes to run and play or just be loved on.”

Logan

Logan

Tempe found a new home!  Owner is keeping Logan!  Tempe and Logan need a new home. These two girls are delightful lab crosses who get along with other pups and love children. 8 year old Logan is a bit shy and needs a few minutes to warm up to new people, but she is so very sweet once she made her introductions. Her owners tell us she is extremely loyal to all of her friends. 4 year old Tempe is the extrovert- she is playful and loves everyone she meets. Both girls are good with other dogs.  Their owners are moving and cannot take them along. They have told us “We have now come down to the wire on our dogs. They are going to the Animal Humane Society on September 12 if we cannot find a home for them before then.”  The girls are close, but they could probably be adopted separately since the timeline is so short. Both girls are spayed, and UTD on all vaccines, except heart worm. They have both been outside dogs so they may need work on manners in the house. Please help us share these two sweet girls.

If you are interested in meeting Tempe or Logan click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331. Owner listing

Ryker

Adopted!  11/10/14 Located in Colorado and available in the Denver area!  How do you do?  Name is Ryker, I’m a male, 5-6 year old yellow lab of the English variety.  What’s an English lab, you say?  Well, I’m told it means I have a big blocky head, typically a little stouter than a “field lab”, and a wrinkly face.  I call them wisdom lines.   I’m new to this Luvin’ Labs gig and getting settled in, but already I’m liking all the attention and just being out of the shelter.   I’m glad they found me and all….but I’m the kind of chap that’s looking for a companion and perhaps a shady yard to hang out in.  The lady that sprung me from the shelter thinks I’m pretty good on leash and I did show her that my tail works fine – I was scared, but a lil’ wagging never hurt anyone.  I also am a very good car passenger.   I’d prefer not to stay in boarding too long; I would love to find a forever or foster home – and learn how to trust and love humans.  How about giving me a try?

Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Sabrina5

Adopted! 10/9/14  As many of you may remember, Sabrina is the beautiful young black Lab who was caught in a barbed wire fence and ripped open her side severely.   Our good friends from the Valencia County Animal Shelter called Luvin’ Labs to see if there was any way they might help this poor, injured girl who was minutes away from being euthanized.   Luvin’ Labs worked their amazing magic, arranged for an emergency transport, and our great friends at Good Shepherd Animal Clinic provided emergency treatment and surgery to save her life.   She had been tangled in that barbed wire for hours before she was found and rescued –  thankfully,  she was strong and had the will to survive.

Many wonderful people heard Luvin’ Labs plea for help to cover the expenses to do Sabrina’s life saving surgery, and we are so very grateful for the generosity of all who helped her.

She has endured so much pain, the surgery, about 100 or more stitches, and infections, but her friends at Good Shepherd did a fantastic job of taking care of her.   Not only were her physical needs met, but those wonderful people at the clinic also gave her weeks of so much love and affection.  She knew she was safe and that finally things were going to get better.

Sabrina is now in her foster home and is making wonderful progress.   Some of her stitches still remain in place until the wounds close up completely, but she is coming along very well.  Our Sabrina is well on the way to a complete recovery.  She is so happy to be in a home situation.   This girl is such a special dog…. very kind and loving and full of sweet Labbie kisses.  She is a great dog and will soon be well enough to be ready for her new forever home.   She was SOOOO worth saving!

If she could only speak, our Sweet Sabrina would thank each and every one of you who stepped up to help her in so many ways, including all the prayers and good wishes sent for her.  But her wagging tail and happy smiles say it all.  Together, we helped save her when she really needed a lot of friends.

MarlaADOPTED 12/19/14  This lovely lady is Marla and she is a 3 year old Lab cross (possibly part Great Pyranese). Marla is in the market for a foster home… or better yet, a new forever home! She is a sweet girl who is good with children, thinks people are wonderful creatures, and plays well with other dogs. She tells us that she would be thrilled to interview for any open “family dog” positions, but her writing skills aren’t great (no thumbs), so she’ll need you to fill out the application.  Since Marla is new to the Luvin’ Labs, we are still getting to know her but we will be sure to post an update soon. Until then, she would love to arrange a meeting so you can learn about how wonderful she is first hand.

If you are interested in meeting Marla click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Marla call (505) 362-0331.

 Puppies02w

There is really nothing quite as sweet as a tiny puppy… except for 8 tiny puppies. Mama is a purebred yellow Labrador Retriever and Dad is a handsome black purebred lab… or he may be a handsome boxer. Two eligible bachelors in the home and mom isn’t about to let us in on the secret. Which means we are left  guessing: Are they purebred lab pups… or are they designer boxadors? These pups may also be a multi sired litter (same mom but different dads). So take your pick, you can’t go wrong. One thing they are for sure is perfectly adorable.

BOYS

SAMMY: Forever home You want a laid back pup? I’m your guy!  I love to be held and cuddled and am very tolerant of any and everything and everybody.

THOR: Forever home  I am the biggest puppy in my litter and am pretty independent.  I am the last man standing when it comes to eating and am always ready for a wrestling match with my brothers and sisters.  I do have a soft spot though and need my cuddles every day. ….and I have the cutest white tip on my tail.

LOKI:Forever home  True to my name I am pretty mischievous.  I like to explore, but need reassurance from my foster family that everything is ok.  I love to be held and my favorite place to fall asleep is in your arms.

GERARD: Forever home I will be the best listener in your life!  If you talk to me I will sit attentively and listen to you.  If you encourage me to follow you when you walk away from me I will happily.

GIRLS

MOLLY: They don’t get much sweeter than me!  Now that I know how to, I run everywhere I go.  Playtime is my favorite time but being held runs a close second.

RORY: I am the biggest girl in my litter.  I have lots of energy and am pretty independent, but I will definitely voice my concern if I am scared or don’t like something going on.

FERN: Forever home I may be the smallest of my litter, but I don’t let anyone pick on me!  I am a tough little girl with lots of “muchness” but I sure love my foster family to hold me and love on me.  I am a big eater and even though I’m small I never let anyone make me miss a meal.

COSMOForever home  Sweetheart, cuddler, loving….those are just a few of the things that describe me. I haven’t met a person or animal that I don’t like and am a pretty go with the flow girl.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting any of these puppies click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Rigby_in_the_puddle

Rigby

Adopted! 10/29/14  Meet Rigby a very handsome young boy in search of a forever home.

9/19/2014 Update from Rigby’s temporary owner:  “Rigby is the quintessential lab; he loves people, water, fetching and your company. He is  always friendly to everyone, and greets you in the morning with lots of love and joy. He is healthy and loves to go for walks. Rigby is great in the car, and after any adventures, loves to take a nap on the floor right by your feet. :)”

When he first arrived with his brother Einstein, they weren’t sure what to think about cats, but have adjusted nicely to them. He also gets along well with other dogs.
Rigby is crate-trained and does a good job of staying in at night. He usually starts off the evening in his bed, but by morning is snuggled up with one of the kids.
He is a lovely, active, wonderful lab who will quickly win your heart.”

Their temporary owner tells us that “on June 28, Rigby and Einstein, two beautiful and sweet black labs were dropped off at our farm. They appear to be brothers- they get along very well and never fight about food or toys. They seem young and look like purebred labs. We are unable to keep them, as we already have four rescue dogs and don’t have the budget for food for these guys- they have giant appetites!… these dogs are WONDERFUL! They would make excellent family dogs. They have not growled or acted aggressive/territorial. They are sweet to our dogs as well.”  Einstein and Rigby LOVE children and are great with adults. They are also fascinated with chasing cats but it seems to be playful so they may be able to adapt to a feline friendly home.”  Their temporary owner has recently taken the boys to be checked out by a vet and neutered.

Einstein has found his forever home, but Rigby is still looking

Candy Mae

Adopted! 10/26/14  My name is Candy Mae and I’m a 3-4 year old chocolate beauty. Judging by my perfect labby features, I might very well be a purebred Labrador Retriever! Believe it or not, I was a stray when animal control picked me up. They tried to locate my owners but nobody ever came for me so now, I get to be a Luvin’ Labs dog. I love to play with other dogs, be loved on and just be silly.  The Luvin’ Labs’ volunteers describe me as a wonderful dog.  I know how to sit and down.  If you think I might be a good foster or forever fit, you can fill out an application and come spend some time getting to know me (and the other dogs at boarding). As usual, if you foster me and find out I’m perfectly wonderful, you adopt me and keep me forever! I’m told by the other dogs here in boarding that being a part of Luvin’ Labs means that I will be a treasured member of a very large family where dogs like me are loved and spoiled.

If you are interested in meeting Candy Mae click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Candy Mae call (505) 362-0331.

Juno

Adopted! 11/14/14  Imagine if your whole world was turned upside down … your food, your bed, the sights sounds and smells that surrounded you since you were a wee pup, all suddenly changed. You find yourself in a cold, dark, noisy place where you hear the cries of other dogs on every side of you, but you can’t even see them, and there’s no one to comfort you…

This is Juno. She is about 4 years old and she is in urgent need of a foster home. Juno spent several terrifying nights in a rural shelter and she was literally so scared that she had to be carried out for a photo shoot. She is now safe in Luvin’ Labs boarding but she is in urgent need of a foster home. Some dogs- especially the gentle souls and the ones who were once someone’s beloved pet- don’t adjust well to a kennel setting and our Juno happens to be one of those dogs. She is stressed and afraid and she needs to be in the loving arms of a foster who can reassure her that she is safe and everything is going to be OK. Please, please help us find this girl a foster home! She gets along with other dogs and she is an absolute doll. And if you foster her and find you can’t bear to part with this sweet girl, you can also be her forever home. We thank you for helping us share our Juno ♥

If you are interested in meeting Juno click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Juno call (505) 362-0331.

Tyler Transferred to Colorado K-9 prison program!  10/20/14  What do you get when you cross a big ol’ teddy bear with a happy-go-lucky, loyal, intelligent Labrador Retriever?  You get a dog just like our 3 year old chocolate boy, Tyler! We never cease to be baffled as to how such wonderful dogs end up in shelters, but that is just where we found Tyler. Tyler is doing well on a leash and really enjoys his walks with the volunteers. Tyler is a little over 70 lbs of love and kisses. Got a dog bed that needs an occupant? Maybe an extra spot on the couch for a snuggle buddy? Fill out an application and come meet Tyler.

Did you know if you volunteer to foster a L.L. dog and decide you cannot say goodbye you can adopt your pup and be his forever home?  We ♥ fosters.

Copper5Adopted! 10/31/14  Sweet boy Copper spent the past 9 years living in a home with his beloved humans. He was always such a good dog- crate trained, housebroken, good on a leash, loves kids, loves other dogs… He worked so hard to be a well-behaved boy, so when his family moved away and his home was suddenly living in a kennel at the veterinary clinic, Copper became very stressed and confused. Copper is one of those dogs who was meant to have a family and a home that he can look after. Looking for a fabulous family dog? Copper can hardly wait to interview for the position if you would kindly fill out an application to meet him.

Update 9/15/2014: Guess who has a foster family? They tell us that Copper is as darn near perfect as they come: loves kids, loves other dogs, good with the cats, perfect gentleman in the house and he knows his basic commands. We are told that while he will crate, although he doesn’t seem love it. Copper is going to make some lucky family very happy♥

Chance

On Medical Hold…..This adorable face belongs to Chance- an 8 year old male black Labrador Retriever. Chance is friendly and smart and he knows lots of basic commands like sit, lay down, stay, shake… He is a joyful pup who likes to run and play and loves the water (he is particularly fond of the horse water buckets in his foster home). He is living in a home with several other dogs and he is wonderful with all of them. He earned the name Chance after being found injured in a rural area- he was dumped from a vehicle that he was seen riding in just a few minutes before. The kind family who found Chance, took him to the vet and nursed his injuries for several days. They searched and searched for his owner thinking that for sure someone would be looking for this great dog but nobody ever called. Are you searching for a new friend? If you are, Chance would love to meet you and show you what an amazing dog he is!

Rory

Adopted by her fosters!  11/5/14  Hi, I’m Rory! I am three and a half months old and I’m looking for my forever family. My foster family has raised me since I was three weeks old and I am used to having people with me all day, so I am looking for a family who has lots of time to spend with me. I’m a very smart girl. I know how to sit and lay down and I am working on come and stay. I’m not quite potty trained yet, but I’m working on that too. Next to cuddling with my people, belly rubs are my favorite things in the world. I sleep in a kennel at night, but during the day, there is no better place to be than by your side. If you have lots of time to spend with me, and you are interested in meeting my cuteness, please fill out an adoption application.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

Jackson is a 4 month old pup in urgent need of a foster or forever home.

Transferred to CO Rescue – 4 month old boy Jackson is happy around other dogs, very intelligent and loving, and he has already learned to use a doggy door! We desperately want to find a foster (or permanent!!) home for this wonderful little pup to live so he can join the Luvin’ Labs family. Believe it or not, Jackson was sitting on death row in a high-kill rural shelter and made it out on his very last day. He was rescued by some kind folks at a clinic who just knew this boy was special and deserved a chance to be someone’s best friend. Jackson is currently staying at that clinic where the staff has said he has the run of the place and is adored by everyone who meets him…. And in case you are wondering, if you foster little Jackson and decide he is perfect, you have first dibs on adopting him. If you just foster him while we work to find him a forever home, you have earned tons of good Karma points… so you win no matter what. Please help us by sharing little Jackson with your friends and family.

BuddyBoy2Adopted! 10/19/14  Please help us find a home for a very special Labrador Retriever named Buddy Boy. Buddy is a survivor, who without the intervention of a good Samaritan, would have surely died of neglect and hunger. This emaciated, starving little one year old boy was spotted through a hole in the fence, so hungry he had resorted to eating dirt. His human hero told us that after the owner surrendered the dog to authorities, she went to meet him. She said, “when I got there, he was very small and skinny and full of tics, but very happy and sweet…I sprayed him down with flea and tic spray and gently rubbed it on his bony body. We named him Buddy because he was sweet and wanted to play like a puppy.” Buddy is amazing: while he has every reason to be jaded and suspiscious of humans, he is instead, grateful and forgiving. He needs a home where he will be loved and adored as a cherished member of the family. He requests to be fed delicious and nutritious food and a never ending supply dog bones and treats for dessert.

Jeulia-2

Adopted  10/18/14  If ever there was a girl who deserved a turn to be treated like a princess, Jeulia would be that girl. Jeulia is a 9 year old purebred yellow Lab and her job has been to be a mama to lots of Labrador puppies. Jeulia was finally able to retire when she was brought into the rescue to become part of the Luvin’ Labs family. Now we hope that someone will take Jeulia into their home and spoil her absolutely rotten with all of the same love and affection that she has spent so many years giving to her babies. Jeulia loves to go for walks and play, she is a very happy dog with a great personality. Julia would do great in a home with another dog she can bond with (she loves other dogs). The thing that would make this girl the happiest dog in the world, would be to find a real home where her only job is to snuggle and play with her dog friends and her people.

If you are interested in meeting Jeulia click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Max

Max

ADOPTED 10/6/2014 – Max has his own special story.  Last week we received a call from a lady in El Paso.  Her father had passed away and they were desperate to find his beloved lab Max a place to go.  At 7 years old Max was a loyal companion to her dad since a puppy, even saving her dad’s life when he went into a diabetic coma on 2 occasions.  They had just arrived from out of state and would be leaving to go back in 2 days; taking Max back home with them was not an option.  They had checked with the local shelter and found that as an owner surrender Max would have no chance of finding a home.  They did a search of possible rescues and found Luvin’ Labs.  That was Wednesday afternoon…

Colleen and her crew of volunteers immediately stepped into action.  Shirley, another rescue’s volunteer in El Paso, offered to transport Max from El Paso to Las Cruces.  David, a Luvin’ Labs volunteer, agreed to meet her in Las Cruces and bring Max to Albuquerque.  Thursday afternoon Max was in Albuquerque to begin his quest as a Luvin’ Labs dog looking for a new forever home.

Kasey Adopted!  This 6 year old girl is Kasey and she appears to be a purebred Labrador Retriever. She is a fairly petite girl, weighing in at just under 60 lbs. The Stunning Ms. Kasey is described by shelter staff as “a special girl” who is “sweet and smooshy.” She is a happy, go-with-the-flow kind of pup who is hoping that she can find a snuggly, playful human that she can win over with her charm and extremely positive Labrador outlook. Kasey (aka “Smooshy”), seems to have a somewhat delicate constitution, so she will need a home that will feed her excellent food to keep her skin and ears healthy. Perfectly wonderful girl who needs a little extra TLC? Kasey is the kind of dog who is happy to return the favor.

This from Colleen (who is in love with Kasey):

Spent some time with Kasey yesterday. She is an absolutely incredible girl. Her face is covered with scars healing, likely used as a bait dog or attacked frequently. She also has urine stains on her legs/haunches, obviously confined to a crate. All of this has not affected her sunshine sweet disposition an iota. She is a total love bug, play bows, loves water, loves to bounce after the ball. My big stoic son was actually giggling when he was playing with her. All in all she is a highly adoptable, sweet sweet girl who should quickly find a home. She’s totally dog friendly too : )

If you are interested in meeting Kasey click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Kasey call (505) 362-0331.

Violet

Adopted! 10/11/14  This is Violet, named because she was found in a flower planter in front of a business when she was 6-8 weeks old.  She was scared and nervous,  but didn’t take long for her to come around.  Luvin’ Labs took her in, started her on vetting, she weighed 5.6 oz. at that time.  She is precious and now learning the word “NO”, which she sometimes does not like and “potty outside”, which she is learning, but still needs to go out every couple hours as a reminder.  She is now about 10-12 weeks old and weighs 12.5 lbs.  Her favorite activities are playing in her small pool and chasing balls.  She loves to play and wrestle with our three dogs, so we feel she needs at least one younger dog to play with.  She is crate trained, but may whimper at first when she goes in, unless she is very tired. She will let you know when she’s tired by telling you she wants on your lap.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Violet click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. They are sweet to our dogs as well.” Einstein and Rigby LOVE children and are great with adults. They are also fascinated with chasing cats but it seems to be playful so they may be able to adapt to a feline friendly home. Their temporary owner has recently taken the boys to be checked out by a vet and neutered.

Adopted by her Foster 9/2/2014 – Sweet Shayla was shutting down in the shelter and needed someone to help her, so today, this lovely girl became a Luvin’ Labs dog. She passed her temp tests with flying colors and loves other dogs. She is 9 years old and really needs a family of her own that will love her for the rest of her life. Her former owners moved away and dumped her at the shelter. We are determined to make sure that never happens to her again. If you are interested in meeting Shayla click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. ???????????????????????????????ADOPTED 9/30/2014 – This beauty queen is Savannah and she is 1.5 years old. Her current owners are moving out of their home and must say goodbye to her as their living arrangement will no longer be suitable for a dog. They tell us she is a very sweet, busy girl who gets along with everyone- humans of all sorts, dogs and cats. Savannah is still a baby by lab standards: happy, active, curious… She spends most of her time indoors and is house-trained, knows how to use a dog door, and has completed obedience training. She enjoys walks and does fairly well on a leash. Savannah is spayed, microchipped and UTD on all of her vaccines. Savannah has been known to be very mouthy and needs boundary training so she can grow up to be the best dog she can be. She also requests a fenced in yard with a minimum 4′ fence.

If you are interested in meeting Savannah please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com. Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

ADOPTED BY HIS FOSTER 9/21/2014 – Senior male, Rusty, seems to be a dog that was once someone’s very special pet. He is a happy, well mannered gentleman who gets along with other dogs.  A good Samaritan found poor Rusty wandering around rural New Mexico with fresh cuts on the back of his neck where he appeared to have been chained. The volunteer who cared for with Rusty tells us that when he came to her,  he was starved for human attention and love. Rusty is neutered and healthy but he is a little overweight so he will appreciate some healthy food and walks with his new owner. Rusty is fortunate to be in a wonderful foster home and his foster mom has this to say about him:  “Rusty looks like a different dog with his new ‘do’ and a waistline.  He is perfecting his house manners, is more relaxed, is learning to trust and that life can be good.  He follows around so closely and loves to help in the barn with the horses (translation:  he likes to stand in the way and look adorkable…yes..a dork able!).”

If you are interested in meeting Rusty click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

???????????????????????????????

Adopted!  9/12/14  Here is a handsome, compact labby boy for someone in search of a smaller dog. Mahoney is 5 years old and he is a sweet love bug who is good with other dogs. Through no fault of his own, poor Mahoney was dumped at a high-kill shelter.  Every time he heard human footsteps, he perked up, hopeful that they belonged to his owners- that they had finally come back to take him out of that awful place… but it never happened, so we decided to give Mahoney a second chance at happiness. He is in search a new foster or forever home to call his very own. We will update Mahoney’s bio as soon as we get to know him a little better.

If you are interested in meeting Mahoney click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering call (505) 362-0331.

 Gypsy2

Adopted by her foster!  8/30/14 Wanna adopt a sweet, precious 12 week old puppy!? Gypsy is cute, cuddly and oh-so-waggly… and she is possibly the most adorable little yellow labby girl EVER. Little Gypsy has gotten off to a tough start in life and she needs a forever home with wonderful humans to remind her that life is excellent (especially when you happen to be a Labrador Retriever)…

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Gypsy click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

??????????????????????????????? Adopted!  9/24/14  Here is a chocolate covered beauty if we ever saw one!! Latte is a 5 year old female Labrador Retriever who is just as sweet as pie. So far we know that this camera ham is eager to please and she is great with other dogs. Latte is in search of a foster or forever home with another dog she can bond with. Since she is new to our family, we are still learning about her and we will update her bio when we get to know her better… but if you suspect what we suspect (that she’s a gem of a dog that is going to make someone very happy), fill out an application so we can arrange a meeting!

Taz

Adopted by his foster!!!  8/29/14  Wow…. Just WOW!   Taz is an AMAZING chocolate Lab who is looking for a very special family to call his own.  He is a 7 yr old, neutered male, just the right age to be settled down and still be in the prime of his life.   This terrific guy really is the picture of what a great Labrador is…..  smart, kind, sweet, gentle, gorgeous, loves people and gets along with other dogs, LOTS of personality, and extremely LOYAL.  He is sensitive and really wants to please and is willing to learn.   Taz needs a home where he can be a real part of the family – he wants to be right with his people and is the perfect companion – he has a lot of love to give and he needs to be loved back. He was very depressed and shut down when he lost his family, but quickly responded to kindness being part of the family again in his foster home…. A very appreciative boy.   He rides calmly in the car, is house trained, and sleeps in his crate at night.   He is a calm, mature Lab and is over the puppy stuff – with very good manners – very polite.  What a respectful, kind and gentle soul.  He walks well on the leash and loves to go for walks…. A good thing since he needs to lose a few pounds.  He will chase a ball a little,  that may get more fun for him as he looses some weight.

If you are a person or family who is committed to having a dog as a family member….  one who wants to be with their dog and love him and appreciate him for the wonderful guy that he is, then Taz may be your guy.    The absolutely perfect dog may not exist…. But Taz is pretty darn close to being the perfect dog!  (Can you tell that his foster family thinks he is wonderful?)

If you are interested in meeting Taz click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Adopted! 9/12/14  This formerly scared 1 year old Labby boy is Paddy. Paddy is now safe and adjusting quickly to life outside the shelter in a loving foster home. He is a good-natured pup who gets along well with other dogs.

From his foster family:

Paddy is a wonderfully sweet, dark chocolate brown, 1 year old Labby boy.  He has acclimated very quickly to living in a home, and has made friends with all my male and female labs.  He is house trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car (even if he is a bit scared)   He is very lean and lanky and loves to run, play, and explore.  He loves people of all ages and loves to be by your side or lying with you on the couch.  Paddy is very calm and good natured and has a tail that seems to be constantly in motion.  He so wants to play fetch – but really needs a partner to show him how.

Paddy has requested a home where he will be a cherished member of the family. In return for opening your home to Paddy, he promises his unconditional love and devotion… maybe some kisses… and definitely lots of smiles.  He is just starting to see that they are still good people and good places in the world for him and he is totally ready to begin his journey….

If you are interested in meeting Paddy click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

She is hopeful you are looking for a gorgeous girl just like her and that, just maybe, you will want to take her home and introduce her to the rest of your family. Transferred to  k-9 prison program/FSD  8/18/14  6 month old Whitney is hoping you you are looking for a playful, cuddly sweetheart, because if you are, she checks all those boxes. As perfect as Whitney is, she is also a baby dog so she will be looking for a forever home where her new owner will help her grow up to be a wonderful canine citizen.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

Molly1

Adopted!  9/2/14  There is really nothing quite as sweet as a little puppy and Molly is no exception. Molly’s mom is a purebred yellow Labrador Retriever and Dad is a handsome black purebred lab… or he maybe a handsome boxer. Two eligible bachelors in the home and mom isn’t about to let us in on the secret.  Molly’s foster mom describes her this way,  ” They don’t get much sweeter than Molly!  She never walks, but runs everywhere she goes.  Playtime is her favorite time but being held runs a close second.”  Molly is 8 weeks old and all ready to move right into a new forever home.  Could that be yours?

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

8/13/2014 ADOPTED

Steely_pics2_014sq

Adopted!  8/26/14  Steely is a 7 month old purebred lab pup who is looking for his  forever home. He’s a very sweet boy who specializes in being adorable and he is very excited to see what the great big world is all about. Update from Steely’s foster mom:  “Steely is a very gentle soul.  His droopy eyelids and bright green eyes are a window to his sweet personality.  Steely is very mellow, sweet and cuddly…just a big teddy bear.  He is content just hanging out and loves to cuddle.  When you make eye contact with him, you can’t help but melt.  He is a large, clumsy puppy who loves to run and chase after his foster brothers and sister.  He is still learning to control his body, and often trips or slides on the  floor to everyone’s amusement.  Steely would do great in a house where there is another playful dog for him to expend his energy on. Steely is currently going through his chewing stage (Surprise!  He is a Labrador puppy).  He loves to eat sticks, rocks, socks, among a few things in his mouth he shouldn’t be chewing on. He will need to be supervised or crated when not attended.  He does well in a crate, but only lasts about 3 hours before he needs to get out and move.  He is experiencing growing pains (I mentioned he is growing fast) and needs to move around periodically. Steely would do well in a house where he goes for walks daily, but he is so large he won’t do well as a jogging partner. Steely loves to follow me around curiously watching everything I do. However, he is fairly independent and can keep himself entertained. Steely is an all around great puppy that with future guidance will make a great dog.”

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Steely click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Luca

Adopted! 8/22/14 Meet Luca, a 6 month old Labrador puppy. Luca was found searching the aisles of the Walmart in Belen for his new family. Sadly, they weren’t there and he ended up in a rural shelter where Luvin’ Labs saw him and brought him into the rescue. He has since found a very special foster family who loves him to pieces. Labrador puppies do best when they have the love and structure that a home can provide. Maybe that’s your home?

An update from his foster:

Luca is a very friendly pup that just loves everyone he meets! He has settled into our home very quickly and gets along well with our children,15 year old lab, cats, and 2 year old lab. Luca and our young lab play all day long. It would be great if he could go to a home where he could have a playmate but he is also very mellow for a puppy so he would be a good only dog as well. Luca is a puppy so he does want to explore the house and get into things. When he grabs something off limits we simply say “no” and he drops it. Luca shows no signs of food or toy aggression. He and our other lab play tug of war with the toys!  He is fine to take it easy and take naps during the day as well.  Luca sleeps all night in our room and has not had any accidents during the night. We know he would be a great addition to any dog lover’s home.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

 Danae13

Adopted! 8/21/14  Danae was pulled from a high kill gassing shelter in Oklahoma.  She was only there a short time before she gave birth to 3 puppies.  Luvin Labs was able to get Danae and her pups released to rescue and into a foster home, but unfortunately, only one pup survived.   We named the pup Marvin and he has found his forever home .

Danae has proven to be a very special girl during her stay in foster care.  She will need a loving family that can devote time to helping her trust people.  She loves toys, treats, and water just like any good lab does.  She is good with other dogs in her foster home and loves to give her foster mom hugs when she is busy trying to get ready for work.

This sweet sensitive girl is looking to find her forever home, and the family willing to commit their time and love to her and she’ll repay them with loyalty and devotion.

If you are interested in meeting Danae click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Sammyfemale1

ADOPTED 8/14/2014 – This stylish girl is Sammy and she is an 8 year old lab cross who is looking for a new home. Sammy’s owner describes her as a sweet, loving dog who likes to be near her person “helping” whenever she can. She is a petite girl, weighing in at under 50lbs and she has spent her entire life as an indoor dog so she has excellent house manners. Sammy gets along with people of all ages and she usually gets along with other dogs if they are introduced properly. She is not a cat lover (we understand, Sammy… dogs rule). Her present owner has had her since she was a young dog and says she is really a wonderful girl who has unfortunately been left alone quite a bit recently due to a rigorous work travel schedule. Sammy would like to be adopted by someone who is able to provide her with the kind of love and attention that she deserves.

If you are interested in meeting Sammy please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com. Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Boca1

K-9/Freedom Service dog 7/8/14 Meet Boca, a very pretty, very friendly, playful yet calm and controlled, purebred female black lab. Boca is between 1 and 2 years old. She loves people and would rather be by your side than anywhere else. She also does great with all of the other dogs she has met.  She is very responsive to commands and would be easy to train further in any discipline that you (and Boca desire). She already knows and responses extremely well to the following commands:  SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME, LEAVE IT, DROP IT, FETCH, and HEEL.  She is reliably house trained and crate trained (although she dislikes being crated , preferring to be with you). She walks great on leash and rides well in the car. Boca loves to play and especially loves to retrieve!  She loves stuffed toys and enjoys playing fetch in the house and bringing her toy right back to you. Boca is looking for a new family to bring her new best friends.  She bonds quickly and extremely well, lying at your feet or being by your side in all your activities. If you are looking a dog who has all of the famously good-natured, calm, and supportive lab temperaments, Boca is your girl.

If you are interested in meeting Boca,  click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. K-9/Freedom Service Dogs – 7/29/2014

Remember the family rescued from a nearby county shelter within hours of being euthanized for lack of space.  The mom Faith and sister Dahlia have found their wonderful forever homes and now it’s time for sisters Ari and Izzy to find their own families to love.  Ari and Izzy are 5-6 month old female yellow labs who are both friendly, happy, and very smart puppies.  They seem to learn something new and exciting everyday which they look forward to sharing with their new families.  From their foster mom:  “They have been spayed, vetted, microchipped and well loved. They love to chew toys, bones, rawhides. They love the water, sprinklers pools whatever. They are potty trained and know the command for going potty as “outside”. They also are responding to all the basic commands, but will need some refreshing. They are very loving and love to cuddle. Arie is a little more outgoing more playful, if that makes any sense. She likes to instigate things with the others dogs. They love to be around their humans. At your feet, at the shower door, etc.”

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

tanner

Adopted!  Early August. Tanner is a neutered 18-24 month old male Labrador Retriever. He is a volunteer favorite at the shelter in Tucumcari, NM. They tell us that Tanner is laid back, lazy and cat indifferent. His previous owner CLAIMED he did not like other dogs but at the vet’s office he happily engaged every dog there…big and small/male and female. Tanner is STRONG (80 lbs) and while he wants to walk on a leash, he seems to have little experience and will need some training. Tanner  especially loves men and wants to be around people and sit on your lap!  Tanner is very affectionate, eager to please and a quick learner and he is housebroken. We think Tanner sounds perfect and we hope that he finds his forever home very soon.

If you are interested in meeting Tanner, please email quaycountyanimals@yahoo.com. Courtesy Listing

Melodie1

K-9/Freedom Service Dogs – 7/29/2014

This small-sized, gentle labby girl is Melodie and she is in immediate need of a foster or forever home. Melodie is  just 1 year old, and that year has clearly been a stressful one. She is slowly starting to come out of her shell but she is still very shy, understandably traumatized by the events leading up to her rescue. Melodie is currently in Luvin’ Labs boarding where our volunteers are doting on her and taking wonderful care of her. In spite of all of the love, affection and creature comforts that we spoil our boarding pups with, it’s amazing what a stable home can do to help bring an introvert like Melodie out of her shell.

If you are interested in meeting Melodie click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Melodie call (505) 362-0331.

Isa

Sad eyes

K-9/Freedom Service Dogs – 7/29/2014

This sweet girl’s eyes say it all: deep sorrow, mourning the loss of her beloved owner. This is Isa and she is a 3 year old girl who suffered the the death of her very special human. She was then left at a shelter by the family, who was unable to keep her. For weeks Isa has been grief-stricken and confused- she wouldn’t even come out of hiding when our volunteer showed up to snap some photos.

Recently Isa has begun to regain little bits of her happy spirit. She still has a long way to go, but she will venture out of her kennel, and she finally let the volunteer with the camera snap one quick picture. She is obviously a very shy girl, but with a special person who will take the time to gain her trust, Isa will come around… and one thing is clear about her: she is an exceptionally loyal dog who doesn’t give her heart to just anyone. We will try to update with pictures so you can watch her begin to bloom a little bit at a time.

Adopted! 8/18/14  My name is Angelica and I am a 2 year old white Labrador Retriever. I was lucky enough to be pulled from a high-kill shelter by Luvin’ Labs, and now I will be loved and protected forever more. My foster family says that I have a very strong love for people and other dogs. And as you can see, I’m doing so much better now that I have a home to protect me. I’m working on putting some weight on as I’m thinner than I should be, but soon enough I’ll be right as rain. If you are interested in meeting Angelica click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Dreamer 4

Adopted! 8/14/14 We call her Dreamer. She’s a 4 year old purebred Labrador Retriever. Dreamer joins Luvin’ Labs as one of a long list of truly wonderful dogs that have been rescued from an NM breeder. She is a well rounded girl- just enough “silly lab” mixed with the right amount of “content to share your Snuggie while you watch an all night Netflix marathon,” with a pinch of  “I should definitely sit here and stare at you while you go to the bathroom so I don’t miss anything important...”  Dreamer will need a home with another dog she can bond with. She is currently in need of a foster home, or, better yet, a home forever and ever. Either way, we need a special someone to apply to  love her tons.

Did you know if you foster a L.L. dog and fall in love you can adopt your love and keep her (or him) forever? If it’s not a love connection, you are just a great human being who is giving a deserving dog a safe, loving home while we find the perfect forever home. Fostering is a win/win no matter what. And we think Dreamer is a keeper. We ♥ fosters.

If you are interested in meeting Dreamer click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you be interested in fostering Dreamer or have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Adopted! 8/8/14  Dandy is an 7 year old male border collie/lab mix with a tail that curls up behind him. He is in great shape, he is housetrained, fine with cats, other dogs, walks great on a leash, familiar with dog door… just a really good dog. He would be great as an only dog, or would be fine in a home with another dog. Dandy came from a home where he was an only dog and his owner was not able to take care of him anymore. He loves being an inside/outside dog and would make someone a fabulous friend.

Right now, she is working on regaining her “girlish figure” to get ready for the summer season, and she would LOVE a workout partner to go on walks with.    Karmel has been very good in the house and is nicely crate trained and so far has not had any accidents in the house.   She enjoys some nice nap time but is also happy to go out and play.   She has been very good with her foster brother Sam.   Karmel is really hoping for a caring family to give her the love and TLC that she deserves, and she has a lot of love to give back in return.

If you are interested in meeting Karmel click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Karmel call (505) 362-0331.

ADOPTED 8/14/2014 – This is Jeulianna (not to be confused with Jeulia). Jeulianna is a 6 year old pure bred female Labrador Retriever. She is also pure sweetness, and thinks everyone she encounters is her very best friend. She is a very good-natured dog with a soft, gentle mouth that loves to give little kisses. Jeulianna is a calm, patient sort of girl and she can’t get enough pats and scratches. She is good with other dogs and would probably prefer a home with a canine friend she can bond with.  Oh, and did we mention that her eyes light up at the mere sight of a ball that she might be able to bring back to you if you would be so kind as to throw it? A practically perfect dog that hasn’t gotten to do any of these wonderful things because she has been busy with puppies for the first 6 years of her life.

Update from Jeulianna’s foster:  Jeulianna is the most perfect pup.  She is quite comfortable here, loves running with Caderyn, our 4 year old lab boy, and often just walks past Jubal, our 8 year old yellow,  giving him a “kiss” on his head as she does.  When she came to the house last week she was clingy, but that’s not the case now.  Often I will find her resting by herself in our bedroom on Jubal’s bed.  She’s such a happy dog and her butt wiggles constantly in time with her tail.  She is not spooked by anything and enjoys looking over the fence and barking a quick hello at the school bus as it passes in the morning (Caderyn taught her this).  She wants to please and learned the routine of our home very quickly.

If you are interested in meeting Jeulianna click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

PART951399405450960

K-9 prison/ Freedom Service Dogs  7/8/14  This pair of soulful eyes belong to a 3 year old male chocolate lab named Jefferson. Jefferson’s life has been pretty chaotic over the past few weeks. He was picked up by a good Samaritan who found him wandering with an injured back leg and then he was taken to a shelter where they tried unsuccessfully to find his owner. Poor Jefferson waited for days, injured, hoping his person would come take him away from that scary place, but he was never claimed… so we decided to make this sweet, adorable guy part of our family. Through his entire ordeal, Jefferson has been a perfect gentleman, very kind and grateful to everyone for all of the love that has been extended to him.

If you are interested in meeting Jefferson click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Lobo

K-9/Freedom Service. This handsome young labby boy is Lobo and he is as sweet as he looks. We think Lobo has an excellent future as, oh… maybe, a hunky male model? He has obviously been perfecting his “I’m handsome and I don’t actually have to try” look.

Adopted! 7/18/14  This handsome young guy is Chester, a 2 year old black male lab.  Chester was patiently sitting in a high-kill local shelter just pleading with those beautiful brown eyes for someone to get him out of there…how could we resist!  Chester is now a Luvin’ Labs pup looking for his forever companion/family.  We don’t’ know much about him except he is so happy to be enjoying life outside of those metal bars.

A LL volunteer has this to say about Chester: Chester is just a big goof. Not a mean bone in his body. He gets along with all other dogs,  loves to play and chase. He likes toys but loves other dogs. He’s a young, affectionate, fun dog. He also loves the pool.

If you are interested in meeting Chester click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Sam

Sam1

Adopted!  7/25/14  This is Sam and he is a neutered male, yellow Labrador Retriever mix. When he was at the shelter they estimated him to be about 7 years old. Sam is so appreciative to be in his foster home and has adjusted very well. He is such a sweet, kind, gentle fella. He tries so hard to please and is grateful to have a place to lie down next to his person. He has been really good in the house and is crate trained. Sam loves to go on walks and thinks playing a little ball is wonderful. Sam would probably do best in a home where he doesn’t get roughed up since he has had some old injuries and needs a little extra TLC. He gets along well with other dogs, so long as they don’t run over him. He is also respectful of the cat, but might chase it if it runs. Sam is not a big dog, a bit on the smaller side for a Lab, but he makes up for it with his big, gentle heart.  Watching him be sweet and gentle with the elderly is quite endearing. Anyone sharing their home with Sweet Sam would have a special friend indeed.

Pearl

Pearl needs a foster or forever home STAT! Poor baby girl had a severe fracture to her right rear leg and, sadly, it had to be amputated and she is currently recuperating in a kennel. Pearl about 7-8 months old and she has never stopped wagging and smiling. She is a friendly, happy cuddly pup and we really want to help her find the perfect forever home. If you are reading this you are a dog lover… Help us spread the word to your fellow dog lovers so we can help Pearl find a nice comfy home with humans to love her and spoil her to pieces.

If you are interested in meeting Pearl click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Brittney

Adopted 4/24/14  Ms. Britney is a 3 year old lab who is eager to find a place to call home. While it may not seem so in this picture, she is a very lucky girl because Britney was living on borrowed time. Now that she has been rescued, she gets the second chance at happiness that every shelter dog dreams about. The last few weeks in the shelter were very frightening for Britney and it would be such a blessing for her if someone would take her home and remind her that life can be good. Maybe your home could be Britney’s forever home… or, if you have ever considered fostering, maybe it could just be her home while we search for the right fit in a forever family. Click here if you would like to apply to foster Britney or any of the other dogs that are waiting for a foster.

If you are interested in meeting Britney click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Percy1
7/19/2014 Kept by Owner – Perci is a gem of a girl who is in search of a new family to love. She is 3 years old and her person tells us that Perci is a loyal freind who has helped her through some tough times. She enjoys sitting on laps and following her person around the house- she is a very loyal and affectionate girl.  Perci does great with people of all shapes and sizes as long as they are respectful and don’t try to hurt her (we don’t like to have our ears pulled either, Perci). Perci is OK with other dogs, however when she is excited and barking she can be somewhat feisty with other dogs that are in her presence. Perci is a “talker” (will tell you when she needs to go outside) and a very quick learner who has been through basic obedience training and understands her person’s needs and requests quite readily.  Her person is moving out of state into a residence where Perci would have to live outdoors, and Perci is an indoor dog who prefers to be around her people. Her person has Perci’s best interests at heart and requests a wonderful home for her very special girl. Perci is spayed, chipped and UTD on all of her vaccines.

If you are interested in meeting Perci please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com. Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Owner found a home for her!  7/14/14  Angel is a sweet girl looking for a new forever home. Her current owner tells us that Angel is a loving, active 2 years old female lab who loves men, women and and people all ages. She is housebroken, good on a leash and spends quite a bit of time indoors with her people. Angel isn’t food or toy aggressive (her owners leave her food out all day and she would be happy to share it with you if you are hungry). She never nips or bites but she does jump occasionally when she is excited to see someone. Angel needs a fenced yard that is free of those pesky gophers that like to taunt her in her current yard. Think Angel might be a good fit for your family? The best way to know for sure is to fill out an application so we can arrange a meeting.

K-9/ Freedom Service Dogs 7/8/14  Meet Amber, rescued from a high kill shelter on her last day, she’s an 7-8 month old black lab with that typical otter-like tail and wiggly butt.  She also gets along great with other dogs, loves everyone she meets and wants to be the center of attention.  This young girl is going to make someone the best life-long companion.

Update from a LL volunteer: Amber is a very darling little girl.  She wants to get up in your lap and doesn’t realize that she is starting to get too big to fit.  She loves to kiss you, she is not much into toys yet, but she loves to run beside you and play.  Amber will most likely be a small lab when fully grown.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Amber click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

In addition to being a dazzling beauty, Deeva is also great with other dogs, very friendly with people, and great with children. She is also well behaved and she walks great on a leash. Jolie

K-9/ Freedom Service Dog 7/8/14  Meet Jolie: the the newest member of the Luvin’ Labs family. Jolie is a 1 year old female lab who was pulled from a high-kill shelter in Southern New Mexico. So far we know that Jolie is a charmer who loves to be pet (and we are betting she is hoping for a forever home where she will be spoiled rotten). Jolie is currently in boarding and she has her paws crossed that she can be one of the lucky dogs who gets to pack up her dog bowl and go live in a foster home. As we learn more about the lovely Jolie, we will update her bio.

If you have ever considered fostering maybe Jolie is your girl! We work with fosters to find a dog that is a good fit for their home and family. We want fostering to be a good experience for everyone involved, including your other pets.

If you are interested in meeting Jolie click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. ADOPTED 5/29/2014 – This one year old black female lab mix is Rhythm, currently in foster.  She’s described by her foster as a very friendly pup, gets along with every person, child and adult she meets.  When she is not playing, she wants to be right beside you and will, without fail, roll over for a belly rub.  She is very smart and well-manner.  She knows “sit” and is very respectful to both the foster’s cats.  Rhythm is working on leash training and is already house trained.  If you are interest in meeting Rhythm contact bridgestohome@gmail.com.  Courtesy Listing

Flower1

k-9/ Freedom Service Dogs 7/8/14  Flower needs a foster or forever home after being rescued from her living situation- a situation that had this playful 9 month old girl chained up alone outside.  Some wonderful people from another rescue encountered her while doing community outreach- The owner agreed to give her up and we jumped at the opportunity to make her a Luvin’ Labs dog.  This sweet baby deserves to know what it means to be a family dog- loved and treasured and connected to her people- not left alone outside for days on end by herself.

This update from a LL volunteer: Flower is such a sweet, young and active Lab. You would never have guessed she had been chained. She’s affectionate and playful. She sits and she is learning down. Her favorite toy is a red squeaky rubber toy that she chases and retrieves and she loves to take Beau’s little brown stuffed monkey that he adores away from him and tease him with it.  It is so cute.  She also loves the water and has fun playing in the pool. She is a great dog and such a sweet, sweet girl.

Seymour was Otto new pix July 11 2014

Adopted 7/15/2014 – Seymour, a handsome 3 year old black male lab, adopted last year and confident he would grow old in his loving forever home.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances not of his doing, his family had to leave that home and could not take him with them.  Seymour deserves a new home with a yard, not living in a kennel with no room to run and play.  Seymour is super-sweet, mild-mannered and gets along great with other dogs and loves children.  He’s used to living inside, knows basic commands and enjoys just sitting next to his person with his paw resting on your arm.  Seymour could afford to lose a few pounds, but with good food and exercise that should be easy.  Seymour is ready to join your family…he’s neutered, up-to-date with vaccinations, microchipped, and currently on heart worm preventive.  If you are interested in meeting Seymour call 1-888-828-5822, ext.4 and leave a detailed message or email animalamigos@aol.com.  Courtesy Listing

Nala’s owner is heartbroken that she is not able to keep her, but due to a recent diagnosis a big, happy dog is not safe for her. Nala is described as a sweet, playful girl who is gentle with children. She gets along with other dogs, is good with cats and she likes people of all ages. She is spayed, microchiped and her owner states she is UTD on all vaccines. Nala is good on a leash and she is not food or toy aggressive. Bandit

Adopted!  7/6/14  This handsome young lab is Bandit, a 3-4 month old chocolate male.  Can you believe that someone dumped this puppy in a dumpster?  Lucky for him, a kind couple heard his cries and rescued this little guy.  Unfortunately they already have several pets and, as much as they would love to keep him, just can’t at this time.  His rescuer tells us that he is all lab puppy…energetic, but very sweet.  He loves to play fetch and will actually return the ball and place it back in your hand…did we say he’ll let go of it…well his rescuer is working on that part!  He loves water and if given the chance will jump in the shower with you.  As a puppy he loves kids, other dogs and cats.  As with most lab puppies he doesn’t know his own strength so might do best with older children.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Bandit click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Sherlock&Watson

Adopted! 7/8/14  Meet Sherlock and Watson, male labs and best buddies. They are probably about 5-6 years old. These handsome boys clearly have some history together, and, while we would love to hear their stories, they’re not talking. Whatever the story may be, they are compatible souls, a bonded pair, and we would like to keep them together. Best friends don’t come along every day, you know.  They love all people and would rather be by your side than anywhere else. They are very responsive to commands and would be easy to train beyond the basics, which they already know well and practice faithfully. They are reliably house trained, crate trained; they walk great on leash, and they ride well in the car.  Sherlock and Watson love to play and especially love to fetch! They retrieve on command and drop the ball at your feet. They are great with other dogs in the yard or house. Because they are accustomed to hanging out together, they are very capable of entertaining themselves when their people have other things to do. They would be great with kids. Because they seem to prefer being indoors to outdoors (unless you are there), they would do equally well as inside-only dogs or in a household with a yard, small or large. Sherlock and Watson are looking for a family of new best friends with whom they can share adventures. They are eager to contribute their unlimited doggie joy to a stable and loving, forever home. They really love everyone and everything – just check out those constantly wagging tails. These boys are just a wonderful pair. Don’t let them get away. If you are interested in meeting Sherlock and Watson click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Sandy1

Owner didn’t respond. This adorable doll is Sandy. She  is a 6 year old female yellow Labrador Retriever in search of a new home. Sandy is a big dog, weighing in at 96lbs. She doesn’t jump to greet, is eager to please and can sit on command. Her new owner needs to practice with her on a leash as she gets very excited and she may need some work on her house manners since she has been primarily an outside dog. Sandy is a bit timid around people she has never met, but once she gets used to them she is very sweet to people of all ages. Her current owner describes her as protective over her home and her yard and says she is pretty relaxed in the house once she gets over her initial excitements. She also tends to be protective over her toys and treats. Sandy’s owner describes her as the queen of her backyard and wants the very best home for her where she will be loved and get lots of attention. She is not spayed (so she will need to be) and needs to be screened for heartworm but she is current on all other vaccines.

This girl deserves a wonderful home where she will be loved and cherished. She might make a wonderful pet for a single person who wants a loving companion who also offers a sense of protection over her home and her people.

If you are interested in meeting Sandy please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

UPDATE from Kaylee’s Foster:  She’s doing great! She’s great with kids. She is good on a leash, house trained, and she barks only when need be. She is good in the house when left alone as long as the trash is secure.

Faith

Adopted! 7/10/14  My name is Faith and I am a 2-year old female. I am believed to be a purebred Labrador Retriever based on my perfect lab-y features. They say I’m a “lucky” dog… but if I believed in luck, I’d have a different name. I was dumped at a high-kill shelter with three of my babies on a day when the shelter was filled to capacity. I think someone was praying for us because a Luvin’ Labs volunteer just happened to be there, rescuing another Labrador. There was no room at Luvin’ Lab’s boarding either but they refused to leave without us… they said they’d make room. So here I am! I have faith that someone will read this post and I will have a foster or forever home soon. Maybe you’ll say a little prayer? By the way, I’ve been an amazing mother to my babies, loving and protecting them for the past 4 months. Not every female is cut out for motherhood, but the ones who are as wonderful as I have been tend to make fantastic family dogs.

Volunteer update: Faith is beautiful and so loving. She is such a sweet dog and it’s shocking that someone would dump such a wonderful dog at a shelter. She is good natured and very regal. Faith will make a great family member.

If you are interested in meeting Faith click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Faith call (505) 362-0331.

Kato

5/27/14  Colorado Canine Service Program  Another pup rescued today from death row!  This handsome guy is Kato, a black 10 month old male who the folks at the shelter described as friendly and curious; he was always so interested in anyone that was willing to give him a glance while passing him in his cage.  Now that Kato knows freedom we expect him to become the typical young lab that he deserves to be.  Kato is available for either fostering or adoption.  If you are interested in meeting Kato click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Kato call (505) 362-0331.

Kato loves the volunteers.

Petey11

5/27/14  Colorado Canine Service Programs  Meet Petey, a 6 month old male yellow lab cross. Petey has been with his foster family for a little over a month and he has turned out to be a very special puppy. This little boy is incredibly bonded to people and is happiest when he can follow his foster mom or dad from room to room. He has a great time with her three other dogs but Petey would also do well as an only dog since he is so enamored with people. He is completely house broken, uses a dog door and is excellent in his crate- going in willingly and resting peacefully until they get home. He no longer crates at night because he does so well in the house, sleeping on the floor at the foot of his foster parents bed. He is totally uninterested in the neighborhood cats when they come to visit. His foster mom says she believes he is a genius* because he picks up commands with such ease because he is very eager to please her. He recently attended a party for her son’s Lacrosse team and by the end of the party he had mastered sitting for the guests when he wanted to be petted.

Petey has come such a long way from the emaciated, terrified little guy that was pulled from a high kill shelter with his brother several months ago. He is now up to a healthy weight and whatever breed(s) the lab side of his family crossed with- he certainly got all of the best qualities. He would love to meet you so he can show off what a good boy he is and how great (and grateful) a rescue dog can be.

(*we think she may be biased.)

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Petey click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Adopted: 6/3/14  Wanted:  Forever home for the most perfect dog…meet Dexter!  He’s a “pheno” lab, 3-4 years old, neutered, with that wonderful lab personality.  Dexter is friendly, well behaved, affectionate, calm, polite, and listens well.  He enjoys walks, car rides, and just being with his person.  He gets along with other dogs and curious about cats, but not in a bad way.  He’s definitely a house dog with great manners.  He knows sit, stay, down, gives paw for treats and even waits to be invited to come into the kitchen.  What else could you ask of a dog?

If you are interested in meeting Dexter click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Finley2

5/27/14  Colorado Canine Service Program – Finley is with us because another dog could not be. A beautiful black mama dog named Grace is Finley’s angel. She was supposed to be saved… and then she was supposed to have a bright future and a better life… because she will never know the sweet contentment that we had promised her, we saved Finley in her name.

There are no shortage of fantastic dogs in New Mexico shelters, but we think we may have found a really special puppy. Meet Finley, an 8 month old black Labby boy.  He is a calm and good-natured pup who seems to get along with all other dogs and is very interested in playing with them. Finley rides great in the car,  is crate trained and is not food aggressive. Finley loves people and really responds well to commands- he already knows come and sit and he walks well on a leash.  He wants to be by your side and really listens well. Finley is almost impossible to photograph because he loves to snuggle and play with people while they try to take his picture. This is problematic because he will likely not pose willingly with you for a selfie as he will probably be too busy trying to love you.

Need some more love in your life? Finley just so happens to have lots to give and just needs to find a forever home where he can be free to love his people as much as he wants. If you are interested in meeting Finley click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you be interested in fostering Finley or have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Zoe

Zoe_IMG_1873_480H

5/27/14.  Colorado Canine Service Program This is Zoe. Zoe is a female lab,  around 2 years of age. Zoe is described as “an incredible dog with a calm disposition and she knows all of her commands.” Why she doesn’t have a forever home yet is a bit of a puzzle to the volunteers at boarding because Zoe is quite a special girl. She is very good around other dogs and she is described by a LL volunteer as just an all around great dog. We could go on and on about her, but you get the idea… A great dog deserving of a great forever home. Come meet her. We think you will agree that she is pretty fantastic.

If you are interested in meeting Zoe click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Zoe call (505) 362-0331.

Beau8

ADOPTED 6/13/2014 – Beau is a 5 year old purebred chocolate male Labrador Retriever. Beau is a big ‘ol teddy bear… who LOVES teddy bears and other soft, fluffy play things. He takes excellent care of his stuffed friends and never hurts or destroys them. Beau was an outside dog in his former life who really didn’t get the kind of attention he deserves. He is in heaven now with the Luvin’ Labs volunteers who smother him hugs, kisses and pats. He requests a home where he will be spoiled rotten to make up for the first five years of his life. Beau is good with other dogs and kids but, since he lived outside, he may need some work on his house manners and basic obedience training so that he can reach his full potential as a wonderful family member. Beau is just plain adorable and we are quite certain this big-love-of-a-guy will bring you at least one good belly laugh every day.

Update from a LL volunteer:  Beau is our very own big brown stuffed Teddy Bear.  Sometimes we call him Tank, because that’s what he reminds you of when he wants a toy out of the toy box, especially the bottom toy.  He loves his little brown stuffed monkey and will find it anywhere.  He also loves the water… and taking his stuffed monkey into the water… and then bringing it to you all wet.  He gets along with all the dogs and just loves to be loved.

If you are interested in meeting Beau click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Beau call (505) 362-0331.

Austin LOVES people and would like nothing better to be by your side or in your lap.  He is crate trained and does well with other dogs.  Austin is a big, happy, good-looking boy and really wants to please.  He listens and responds well and would be very easy to train.  He loves to run and play and he’s not food or toy/ball aggressive. Austin is a gentle soul and does not seem to want or know how to “scuffle/fight.”

If you are interested in meeting Austin click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. parker1
ADOPTED 6/7/2014 – Parker is an exceptional family dog in need of new home. He is a big (about 100 pounds), healthy,  8 year old male lab and his current owner describes him as fun loving, easy going and full of joy (note the smile and the 100 mph tail wag in his photos). Parker gets along with all other dogs and cats and he also loves kids of all ages. Parker spends the majority of his time in the house with his family and he has wonderful manners- he doesn’t jump to greet, isn’t food or toy aggressive, and doesn’t nip or bite. He is neutered and his owner says he is UTD on all vaccines. Parker’s family is moving out of state and their living situation will not be suitable for a dog so they are eager to find him a loving home before they leave in June.

Does Parker sound like a perfect fit for your family? If you are interested in meeting him please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com. Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Adopted by her foster!  5/22/14  Very easy going, eager to please, quick to learn, fine on her own, loves to play, gets along with other dogs, and absolutely adorable…this is how Violet’s foster mom describes her.  She’s a 4 month old black lab that’s just impossible to resist…and the best part is…she’s looking for that very special forever home.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

5/19/2014 – SAVED BY RESCUE – This beautiful chocolate lab is extremely urgent in Aztec.  He’s a smaller size lab (47 pounds), 3 years old, good with other dogs, happy personality, described as just a sweet pup.  He does need some basic training to channel that typical lab energy level.   If you can help this guy please contact the Aztec Animal Shelter in Aztec, NM at 505-334-6819.  He deserves a chance!

Kelly4

Adopted! 5/22/2014 – Please don’t scroll past me without reading my story. My name is Kelly and I am posted here for a reason. The Luvin’ Labs people said they don’t take in non-labs unless they are a truly special exception. They say I am more than just special, I am a hero and they weren’t going to let me end up in a shelter. My human had a terrible disease called Alzheimer’s but I didn’t care about any of that- I loved her. She was still able to care for me and my two Labrador siblings until she took a terrible fall- I was the one who went to get help and, thanks to me, she is OK. Her living arrangements have changed so that she will be safe and, as a result, she is no longer able to care for me.

My two Lab siblings were able to find new homes several months ago when they were taken in by the lab rescue. I am obviously not a lab so that has put me at a bit of a disadvantage. Maybe I have some Border Collie genes, but that isn’t really all that important. What I am for sure is a healthy, big, incredibly affectionate, loving 9 year old male dog. I want to follow you from room to room, and maybe go for some walks and car rides with you. I have excellent house manners as I’ve spent the majority of my life indoors. If you let me, I would love to curl up next to you on the couch because I love to snuggle and get belly rubs. I get along well with other dogs but cats and young children are an unknown because they haven’t been part of my life. Mostly, I just want someone who will love me as much as my previous owner did. Maybe you are alone too and need some company- I am a wonderful companion dog.

Please share me with your friends and family because I deserve an excellent home. If you are interested in meeting Kelly click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Daysee2 ADOPTED! 5-23-2014 – Meet Daysee, a 3 year old purebred female yellow lab.  Besides being gorgeous, Daysee is energetic, happy, eager to learn and loves everybody, including other dogs. She hopes to be adopted into a home where her people will enjoy spending time teaching her about wonderful dog things like toys and kisses and maybe how to be a proper lap dog. In return, Daysee will show you how to set aside the things that aren’t really all that important, and savor the precious time we have with the dogs and the people that we love. We think Daysee will be a part of many, many happy memories and she would make an excellent playmate for another dog.

If you are interested in meeting Daysee click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Daysee call (505) 362-0331.

Midas_IMG_1948_480H

Adopted by his foster. Midas is one of a trio of dogs that were rescued today from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico.  Midas is just as his name suggests – a golden gem!  He’s a 2 year old male that after the scare of his young life is ready to embark on a new journey and find his very own loving home.  We don’t know too much about Midas yet, but as we get to know more we’ll update this bio.

UPDATE 4/30/2014 from a LL volunteer : Midas is a gem! If anyone is looking for a wonderful male yellow lab …. more on the small side than his name would suggest ….. Midas is it!!! He came out of the kennel a little on the shy side but quickly warmed up once he was free in the yard. He loves people, seems to be good with other dogs and he appears to be house trained. This volunteer gives Midas a very enthusiastic two thumbs up! Please help us find this guy a foster or forever home where he can show off his wonderful manners and excellent social skills.

Maybee1

Meet Maybee, a black female lab,  age unknown. She is a happy, friendly sort of girl that gets along with everyone she meets. She is good with other dogs (large and small) and does well with cats as long as they don’t run from her. Maybee is housetrained and she knows how to use a dog door. She is a smart girl who is good on a leash and enjoys going for walks. Maybee is currently residing in Odessa, TX and she definitely checks all the boxes- sweet, loving, wonderful, beautiful… she will be a great friend to some lucky person.  She will need to be adopted into a home with a fenced yard so she doesn’t try to pack up her things and make her way back to Texas.

If you are interested in meeting Maybee please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Bergera_013

Adopted! 5/18/14  Bergera is a handsome, 4 month old, purebred male Labrador Retriever puppy. Bergera is a tough little guy: he was recently declared healthy after fighting off the deadly canine parvovirus. Parvo recently took the life of another L.L. puppy so we are elated (and very relieved) that this boy was able to win his battle. Now that he is feeling better he is ready for action! Bergera  is oh-so-cute and wiggly and needs to find a forever home where his people can keep up with his endless curiosity and energy.  He is a delightful boy and he is going to make someone a wonderful friend.

This update from his foster 4/20/2014:

He is a fine pup.  Very loving and sweet.  He is socializing very well with my 3 dogs and seems very comfortable here.  He has learned how to use the doggie door and is making a lot of progress with potty training.  I think he will have a good grasp within a few days. Judging by his size and the size of his feet, he is going to be a big dog.  He is built very similar to my male lab who as an adult weighs about 90-95 lbs. Hopefully we will find a special home for him.  He sure is sweet.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Bergera click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Audrey

ADOPTED 5/5/2014 – This weary looking girl is Audrey and she is a 4 year old female chocolate who desperately needs a foster home. She is described by shelter volunteers as being a sweet, loving girl who gets along with other dogs. Audrey has been through a lot- in addition to being dumped in a high kill rural shelter, she has been busy being a mother to several litters of puppies. Audrey deserves a chance to live a happy, carefree life without the constant stress that has been a part of her life for the last 4 years. We never want to see adoptable labs slip through our fingers and we want to do everything we can to help find this girl a foster home so we can bring her into the rescue. Audrey will be eternally grateful to the lucky person who provides her with her first real home.

If you are interested in meeting Audrey click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Audrey call (505) 362-0331.

Elmo

ADOPTED 5/5/2014 – This handsome yellow male is Elmo and he is 2 years old. Elmo is in desperate need of a foster or a forever home so he can be brought into the rescue… and he doesn’t have a lot of time. We are currently operating at capacity but we have room in our hearts if you have room in your home for Elmo.  He is described by the shelter volunteers as really sweet with everyone he meets and he is good with other dogs. He has a heart of gold and he is eager to learn. We want nothing more than to be able to make Elmo a part of our family. Please consider making him part of yours. Fosters are heroes and Elmo needs a hero.

If you are interested in meeting Elmo click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Mercedes5

Adopted! 5/11/14 – Sweet young Mercedes was found by animal control, starving and with a gaping, infected injury to her left front paw. She had life saving surgery on March 21st and she is getting stronger every day.

Our beautiful girl Mercedes has endured so much hardship in her first year of life: she was homeless, starving and, to make matters worse, her left front paw was severely injured. We can only guess it was caught in a horrific snap trap. Little trooper that this chocolate covered girl was, she somehow managed to pull her leg out and survive for quite some time, with an extremely severe injury that would have leveled any of us human folks.

Amazingly, despite how injured and emaciated Mercedes was, she responded well enough to preliminary care that she was able to undergo a life saving surgery to remove her mangled limb and alleviate the rampant infection spreading through her body. Despite all she has been through she is an absolutely amazing girl with a nonstop tail that wags with such joy. She loves to give kisses and hang out with the other labs at the clinic where she is currently recovering.

Mercedes has so many angels to thank: the Bernalillo veterinary clinic where she was initially cared for, the volunteer who transported her, and the wonderful folks at Good Shepherd Animal Clinic who, without hesitation, committed to taking her in for Luvin’ Labs. Thanks to them, Mercedes’ journey to health, security and safety, and to find a loving forever home began! Will you please help Luvin’ Labs raise the $650 to pay for Mercedes life saving surgery? We committed to her knowing that we’d have high medical bills, but honestly, with her foot gaping open and infected, sweet Mercedes kissed everyone she met, grateful for any affection and care. How could we not help a girl so very sweet?

photo (19)

In addition to donations, Mercedes is currently looking for a recovery foster or forever home. The vet estimates she is between 10 months and 1 year old and she is a doll. We think she deserves the best and look forward to her having a loving home where she can enjoy the puppyhood she’s never had.

Mercedes4

Mercedes deserves to have folks understand what a beautiful and incredible tenacious spirit she has and we also want the terrible ordeal that she endured to be something we all learn from to keep our beloved dogs safe.

Please click on Mercedes picture below and go to the gallery on the right side of the page to see the damage a trap can do. The photos are graphic, please be advised!!

An angel with a special connection to Mercedes together with several generous supporters paid the balance due for Mercedes surgery…a huge thank you to all of you!  However, we still have dogs in need and appreciate any additional donations in support of our mission.

All funds raised are used solely to treat the medical expenses of the intended animals.  Lodestar Dog Ranch (www.luvinlabs.com) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered with the state of New Mexico and all donations are tax-deductible.

JillJack

Adopted! 5-10-2014 – Meet Jack and Jill…Jack is a full-breed 10 year old yellow lab and Jill is a 6 year old black lab…and they desperately need a foster home.  Their owner is moving at the end of the month and they have nowhere to go.  They are both very friendly, enjoy the company of other dogs and love kids.  They are up-to-date with their vaccinations and have been neutered/spayed.  Both Jack and Jill know basic commands and Jack has received formal training.  They are house trained and walk well on a leash…maybe just a little pulling initially but take correction well.  They love people and need a home where they can get the attention they deserve.  As they have been together all their lives we would like to place these two best friends together.

Please help us bring Jack and Jill into the rescue by offering to foster them.  Call (505) 362-0331 and one of our volunteers will contact you.  If you are interested in adopting Jack and Jill click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. 20140412_141514

Adopted!  5/2/14  My name is Rudy and I am a sweet and loving male lab cross, small to medium in size; I weigh 40 pounds and am approximately one year old. I am gentle with all I meet and good with other dogs. I walk well on a leash and love play outside with my friends.

I am presently being rehabilitated for an injury to my right rear leg and foot. My guardian angel Cindy took me in with no questions asked and her team treats me with love and affection. She says only time will tell how my injury will heal but she is optimistic so she says it would be OK if I start looking for my forever home while she takes care of me. Once I am feeling a little better Cindy says I’ll get neutered and get some shots. She says that I’m such a good boy that I deserve an extra special family. I’m so very excited about meeting my forever family.

UPDATE 4/14/2014: Rudy is happy to announce that thanks to all of the TLC he received, his injury has healed.  He has been neutered and he is ready to meet his new family.

If you are interested in meeting Rudy click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. Lillie1

Adopted!  5/2/14  This 1 year old full-bred Labrador Retriever female is Lille.  Lille came to Luvin’ Labs from a military family who could no longer keep her due to a reassignment.  She’s very comfortable around small children (she grew up with 3, 5 and 6 year olds), she is great with other dogs, and she is so friendly. She spent her time as an inside dog, and she has wonderful house manners. Lille made a surprise visit to our Easter Puppy Hop fundraiser event where she happily smiled for the camera. She also showed off her excellent manners: she was very calm and didn’t jump up to greet and was just curious about everyone.

If you are interested in meeting Lille click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Adopted  4/25/14  Looking for a really awesome Labrador? Well, look no further! This is 2 year old, Mozzie, a handsome black male who just so happens to be awesome.  Mozz has been hiding out in Torrance County, where he has been working his charm on the shelter staff. They are clearly smitten with his friendliness and contagious positive outlook on life.  They say Mozzie is a Labrador down to the core of his being and is happiest when he can ham it up and provide some entertainment and comic relief. He is a medium to large dog, weighing in at about 65 lbs. Mozzie loves to ride in the car and he seems to have good house manners. As an added bonus he is good with cats and he’s super dog friendly. His personality is described as a typical goofball lab. Labs are the best. Goofy, happy, friendly black labs are even better than that.

All things being equal, consider a large black dog. They are more likely to be euthanized than other dogs (although this guy is safe since he is part of Luvin’ Labs). When someone says your dog is amazing, you not only get to say you rescued him, you also get to educate by telling them that you saved a big black dog and they are the most likely to be over looked by potential adopters at shelters. Oh, and you also get Karma points, so don’t delay because Mozz needs a real family to call his own.

If you are interested in meeting Mozzie click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. Chazz

4/21/2014 – TRANSFERRED FOR SERVICE DOG TRAINING – If you keep thinking you want to make a difference in the life of a lab but haven’t acted yet here is your chance.  Meet Chazz, a 2-3 year old male chocolate lab who just joined the Luvin’ Labs family.  Chazz is looking for a home to provide him love and patient guidance while he works on his house manners. Would you be his guardian angel and give him the second chance he so desperately deserves? He is very good with other dogs, and is happy to be with people.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

4/21/2014 TRANSFERRED FOR SERVICE DOG TRAINING – This gorgeous gal is Chaca. Chaca is  a 3 year old chocolate lab. She is a smaller girl , good with other dogs, good with kids and good with cats. Chaca is also house trained, crate trained, and not destructive in the house. A Luvin’ Labs volunteer spent some time with her recently and says “She’s lovely. Not bad on a leash, not much interested in treats.”  Chaca was blessed with wonderful, expressive eyes that let you know exactly how she is feeling at any given moment.

Chaca was adopted as a pup then brought back to the shelter about 1.5 years later because her family was moving. She knows how to be part of a family and is just waiting for the right one to come along and take her home. Chaca does fine being left alone in the house, but does not appreciate being outside by herself.

If you are interested in meeting Chaca click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions or be interested in fostering Chaca call (505) 362-0331.

Cameron3

4-21/2014 TRANSFERRED FOR SERVICE DOG TRAINING – My name is Cameron and I’m a 3 year-old male yellow lab. My life has been pretty darn stressful here recently. Word from the other dogs here is that I’ll be safe now because I’m part of a wonderful extended family that LOVES labs like me. I’m just going with the flow ’cause I’m that kind of dog, but I gotta be honest, it’s a little hard for me to believe that I really am safe without a family to protect and to play with and love. Fact is, I’m a lab though, and we are the eternal optimists of the dog world. So I plan to make the most of my current situation because I’m sure that everything will be just fine once I find a place to hang my leash. Do you have some extra love and a little extra time that you might be able to offer me? I would love to get to know you and I promise I will try really hard to be a good boy.

UDATE 3/15/2014 Cameron is a complete and total love. Sweet, sweet, sweet and very social. He is wonderful with people and seems to be very relaxed around other dogs. He is about 50-60lbs, extra soft and loves to cuddle and be affectionate. This guy is quite a catch.

If you are interested in meeting Cameron click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Adopted 5/9/14  This handsome neutered male chocolate lab is Buddy and he’s 8 years old.  Buddy is at the perfect lab age, no longer puppy-like in his behavior but still ready for a good game of fetch or a nice walk.  Buddy’s foster mom has this to say about him:  “Buddy is a very nice BIG boy.   He is house trained, has nice house mannners, is crate trained and minds well.   He seeks attention and likes nothing better than to be loved on.   Buddy is a quiet dog….. not much barking from him.  He is currently overweight but LOVES to go on a nice walk and is good on the leash, so we are working on getting his weight down.    He may have some arthritis, but it isn’t slowing him down much.  He is also good riding in the car.  Buddy will make someone a WONDERFUL companion.  He is very pleasant and good natured.  Not a jumper or digger that I have seen.   This big sweet boy is a gem!”  He’s good with older kids, elderly people, other dogs with the proper introduction, but no cats or little puppies.

Kali1

This beautiful female lab is Kali- a 2 year old family dog. Her owner describes her as lovable, playful and intelligent. She has been through obedience training, is house-trained, and does fairly well on a leash (she pulls for the first few minutes when she is excited). Kali is primarily an indoor dog as her present owner works from home. She is good with cats and she loves other dogs- she is very happy to play with dog friends but she doesn’t understand that little dogs require her to be a bit more gentle so she will need a home with dogs at least her size. She doesn’t dig or jump the fence, is not food or toy aggressive and she doesn’t nip or bite. Kali’s owner says she is great with people of all ages but she could use some work on her greeting as she will jump up to say hello. Kali is spayed and she is up to date on all of her vaccines. Kali is a beautiful, well cared for dog who ready for a new home and she sounds like she would make a wonderful addition to some lucky family.

4/5/2014 – RETAINED BY OWNER – Meet Cali, a beautiful 2-1/2 year old yellow lab.  Cali’s owner describes her as very sweet and gentle.  She has been a good companion to her 4 year old daughter and is very comfortable around children.  Cali loves one-on-one attention and her favorite activity is to lay her head in her owner’s lap.  She loves to play fetch and has a collection of babies/stuffed animals which usually end up destroyed as she loves on them so much with gentle kisses.  Cali is not a barker or a fence jumper and spends the majority of her time in the house.  Cali is not too fond of small dogs and cats, but gets along well with medium to large dogs.  As is the case with so many, home arrangements have changed and Cali can no longer stay with the family she adores and who adore her.

Shay1_3.14.2014

Adopted! 4/14/14  Shay  is a 5 month old female pup rescued from the Roswell Shelter.  She is eager to please, fun-loving, and smart.  One of her favorite things to do is snuggle with you while watching TV or relaxing on the couch.  She gazes at people seeming to ask what they want her to do.  She has already learned some basic obedience commands in just a week’s time.  She knows sit and down and is learning come and stay.  Right now, she is learning how to walk on a leash and each time seems to enjoy her walks more.  Her foster mom has bought her some toys and she carries them around.  So far, she’s been quite good about only chewing on her toys. Her house manners are excellent.  She is calm and quite polite.   Her coat is short and very soft, like a stuffed animal.    A lovely little lady ready for a forever home.

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each  has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Shay click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Coco1_3.13.2014

Adopted! 4/14/14!  This is Coco. Coco is a kind, sweet 3 year old chocolate female whose perfectly happy life was turned upside-down recently by the death of her owner. While still mourning her human’s death, Coco, a tri-pod, was then separated from her two tiny friends (a chihuahua and a terrior) and left at a shelter by her owners family. As you can imagine, loosing everyone in her life that was important to her and then being dumped has left her very confused. This girl has a truly amazing outlook though and through it all she has been such a sweetheart. If there is a silver lining for Coco it is that she knows how to love and be loved so she will adjust easily once she is back in a stable home.

If you are interested in meeting Coco click here for information on the adoption process. There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com. Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days. Eight paws, two hearts, one wish …

Adopted!  Meet Hope and Bandit, our very special incredibly bonded pair of siblings who have been patiently waiting for a home all their own. At 7 years young, Hope, with her beautiful demeanor and incredible eyes, and Bandit, who loves his sister and always stands over her, have been waiting in boarding for a foster or forever home too long. They are the sweetest pups, leaning into you for a pet or walking quietly together next to one another politely on a leash. Hope and Bandit are happy together, content to stay in a yard during the day and happy if any feline friends amble by. They’d love nothing more than to have a home to curl up in at night, a few pats, and simple pleasures.

February is black dog awareness month. We truly feel that Hope and Bandit, lovers of all people, children, felines and being outside, deserve a home with a lovely yard to play in, and a family to be with in the evenings. Can you please help us find their forever home?  They are good dogs, overlooked because of their age, their color, and the fact that they are a bonded pair. We truly believe we are blessed with the best folks in our rescue. Can you, will you, please help Hope and Bandit with their one wish … for a home.

If you are interested in meeting Hope and Bandit click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Bella3

Adopted! 4/11/14  Looking for a new companion that’s beautiful both inside and out…well, that probably describes a lab, but this girl is special.  Bella, a 3-1/2 year old very rare “silver” lab posed for a Luvin’ Labs poster last year.  She came into the rescue 2 years ago and was soon in a loving forever home.  In that home she proved to be the perfect family dog…loyal, friendly, getting along with other dogs and children, and a quick learner.  She has been very, very loved and cared for by her mom. Unfortunately her mom has a serious illness and cannot care for her anymore…. Totally heartbreaking.  From her new foster mom we know:  “Bella is a perfect darling girl. She is able to get along with my dogs(foster mom)…. And I have very crouchy dogs.  Bella is a love  and she totally goes with the flow of my house.  She is very low maintenance and she seems happy anywhere she is….. But most happy with humans.  She loves to have a ball in her mouth or one of her stuffed animals.  Bella is a gem.  She could fit in with any family.”

If you are interested in meeting Bella click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Jayda1

Adopted! 3/29/14  This is Jayda, a 2 year old female black lab who joined the Luvin’ Labs family recently.    Her foster says that Jayda is a gentle, kind soul who is GREAT with kids and good with all the foster dogs in her home.  She is quite skinny at the moment and is looking forward to putting on a few pounds, something a lab doesn’t enjoy often!   She’s going to be a big girl.  She is quite tall and long. She loves to “lean” into her people for love and attention.

If you are interested in meeting Jayda click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Calle

Pending Adoption! 3/23/14  Meet sweet almost 4 year old Calle. She is playful and very good with other dogs, so she needs to be adopted into a home with another dog she can bond with. She is crate trained and loves to give kisses to her foster family. She is just a little shy, but she warms up and lets you know she is excited with her happy tail.

UPDATE 2/17/2014: Calle’s foster has gotten to know her and work with her and what a sweetie-pie she is turning out to be! She is a lab’s lab-  good-natured, lovable, and very playful. She can be a bit timid around new people but she relishes when she is petted by someone she trusts and will work her charm for some head-scratches if she thinks she can win you over. Prior to her foster family, she hadn’t been on a leash much, if at all. It turns out she is an excellent student- determined to learn and apply all of her new skills. She mastered the leash in no time and is simply wonderful to walk. Lastly, Calle LOVES to play with and carry toys. She is a BIG fan of fetch, and chase. It’s clear that Calle is going to be an amazing family member. She still needs a little more patient training and lots of love to be the girl she was meant to be… but she can hardly wait to settle in with her forever family.

If you are interested in meeting Calle click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Lilly1

Adopted!  2/26/14  This beautiful girl is Lilly, a 3-4 year old yellow lab.  Her owner describes her as “very sweet with a loving personality.  Lilly is great with kids.  She knows basic commands…sit, lay down, stay…is crated and house trained.”  Lilly is a lap dog at heart- she loves to be cuddled and held and will sit on your lap if you let her. She is also a big fan of every labs’ favorite game, fetch. Lilly does great with other dogs, as long as they are males; she’s just not too crazy about females.  Lilly has never met a cat, so they’re definitely an unknown. Lilly’s perfect home would be one as an only dog, so she gets all the attention, or is the center of attention in a house with a male dog.  She’s current on her vaccinations and is spayed.

Lilly looks like she would be a good fit in your home?  If you are interested in meeting her click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.  Owner Listing

Transferred to K-9 prison program 3/13/14  My name is Madison and I’m a 10 month old yellow female Labrador retriever.  I’m a typical young lab…happy, friendly, energetic, loving and ready to play.  I love, love people and I like to give lots of kisses.  I love to take walks, maybe have a tendency to pull a little but I’m easily correctable with treats.  Did I say I like treats too?  I’ve overheard the volunteers at the playground say that besides being beautiful with gorgeous gold eyes and a light gold colored coat,  I’m smart as well and learn quickly.  I enjoy the time I spend with other dogs in the play yard, especially James, and I share my toys with all of them.  I especially enjoy playing with stuff animals and balls.  I’m a girl that love hugs and life!  Please let the folks at Luvin’ Labs know you want to meet me.

He is very sweet, energetic and eager to learn. Even though he is a new addition, it’s clear he just wants what every dog wants: to be loved and to be part of a real family.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Adopted! 3/28/14  Check out Luvin’ Labs latest puppy love, Nan, an 8 month old female Lab/ Newfoundland cross. Nan believes every household needs a silly puppy to break up the ho-hum-drum of everyday life, so, she will do her best to liven up your days with her goofy sense of humor. Her lighter side most likely comes from the Lab side of the family as Newfoundlands are not generally regarded as entertainers. They are, however, known to be very intelligent, gentle gaurdians and amiable family dogs (think Peter-Pan’s Nana). The real Nancy Sinatra would be flattered to know that this whole-lot-of-sweetness (in her tiny white go-go boots) was named after her. Do you have an empty dog bed that Nan might be able to occupy in between acts? She is such a good-natured, happy girl and she most definitely deserves a good home and a loving family.

Nora1

Adopted!  3/8/14 Meet Nora, our very special 9 week old female yellow full-breed lab.  Nora is a typical lab puppy…cute, friendly, curious, energetic.  So what makes Nora special?  Nora was born with a deformity of her front leg.  As a special needs dog, she’ll need a family who understand she may need additional care in the future.  She’s quite the active little pup, curious about all things and definitely into the typical puppy behavior!

While Labrador puppies are adorable they are not right for everyone.  We are extremely careful in our placement of puppies as each has special needs that includes the time commitment for training, bonding, and supervising in order to make them the best canine citizens they can become.

If you are interested in meeting Nora click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Rocky

Adopted! 3/14/14 Some folks call me a hero as, along with my dog siblings, I saved my owner when she took a bad fall inside her house with no way of getting help.  I’ve heard our frantic barks alerted the neighbors that something was wrong and they came to investigate.  Unfortunately she can’t take care of us now so we’re all looking for new homes.  My name is Rocky, I’m 5 years young and pretty handsome if I do say so.  I get along great with everybody…young folks, old folks, small folks and other dogs.  I have great house manners and am pretty mellow, not to say that I don’t enjoy a good game of fetch.

If you are interested in meeting Rocky click here for information on the adoption process.  There you will find the online application which, when completed, can be emailed to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Upon receipt of the application a volunteer will be in touch with you within 3 days.  Should you have additional questions call (505) 362-0331.

Jodi 2

Adopted! 2/20/14  Jodi is an extremely sweet, completely even-tempered, purebred white lab, about 3 years old.  From Jodi’s foster dad, “Jodi is just now learning what it means to be a puppy, to play in the yard with her humans and their other dog, to follow her humans around the house and sleep at (and sometimes on) their feet, and just plain relax in a home where she is loved and she can give her love day in and day out. She is a special dog who is still a bit out of shape from a difficult pregnancy about two months back. She is energetic, she loves to run and play, and she walks politely without pulling for as long and as far as you want to go. She is firming up and brightening up, with her tail standing straight and tall and jauntily bouncing back and forth as she walks and plays. Jodi eagerly greets the people she meets, she loves to play with our dog, and she is completely polite and courteous to our 14-year-old cat.”  We’ll be looking for an adopter who has another dog to be a companion to Jodi.  You should meet Jodi and see for yourself how she will bring that warm, easy lab-love into your home.

If you are interested in meeting Jodi please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Should you have questions on the process or the application call (505) 362-0331.

Runner1 copy

Adopted!  2/1/14  Meet our handsome boy Runner.  He’s a 2 year old yellow full-breed Labrador retriever looking for the perfect forever home.  Runner is having a great time with his foster siblings and asks that you have another dog in your family for him!  While a bit shy around strangers, he is eager to cuddle and give kisses once he gets to know you. Runner is doing well on his leash and already stays right by your side for his daily walks.  He likes to stop and “smell the roses” so at this point, jogging  would not be on his list of things to do.  He sleeps quietly in his crate at night preferably in a room where he can see you.   During the day, he is more than willing to come when you call him for pets and praise.  He’s sensitive to loud voices, so just a gentle no is all he needs.  Nylabones are a favorite of his.  He also likes to chase the ball when we play “indoor fetch”.     If you are interested in meeting Runner please complete the online application found by clicking here and email to applications@luvinlabs.com.  Should you have questions on our process or the application call (505) 362-0331.
