Best Friends

Thank you to our wonderful supporters and contributors.  Without you we could not continue helping labs.

Created in 2001, ABQDog was intended to be a calendar of dog-friendly events.  We soon expanded, however, to include dog parks, health warnings, places to eat and shop with your dog, and much more.  Our first mission is to provide Albuquerque dog lovers and visitors with everything they need to enjoy the city with their best friend, and we believe that ABQDog has fulfilled that by becoming a large repository of information helpful to both old and new residents, as well as visitors.

Our second mission is to improve the life of every Albuquerque dog.  So we provide an extensive list of breed rescues, limited acceptance groups, and shelters, and we always encourage adoption.  We whole-heartedly support your difficult and valuable work, and will help in any way we can to promote your events or fundraisers.

Look for a new, revised, and greatly improved ABQDog.com coming soon!

Where do we begin?  Our journey began in a simple way, one many of you have probably encountered.  I found lodestarlabs.com in the midst of my grief over the loss of my beloved chocolate lab, Dawhoo.  I asked Tom to please post a memorial to Dawhoo on his site, and began watching the site trying to figure out how I could help.  Through our combined efforts we began, rescuing one dog at a time.

Tom and Jean, thank you for trusting us with the stewardship of your lab rescue, thank you for your unfailingly appropriate and seasoned advice, thank you for giving us the means to continue what you so lovingly created 7 years ago, rescuing and rehoming this wonderful breed of dogs, Labrador Retrievers.
